Volleyball Swept by Augustana

Box Score Sioux Falls, SD — The University of Mary was on the road Friday night as it fell to Northern Sun opponent Augustana College. The Vikings got up early and cruised past the Marauders in three game.

Augustana was led on the night by Holly Hafermeyer who had a match high 11 kills while hitting .688.

On a night where the Marauders saw little offensive spark sophomore OH Morgan Dake had a team-high six kills while hitting a season high .600. Senior DS Valerie Lesu recorded a game-high 12 digs.

After a back and forth start to the first set, U-Mary trailed 7-4. Augustana, however, would then proceed to go on a 9-0 run to make the score 18-4. A Marauders timeout stopped the bleeding a little, but the Vikings went on to win the first set 25-11.

In the second set Augustana utilized a 7-0 run early to extend their lead to 10-2. U-Mary struggled offensively as they were only able to put up 8 points in the second set falling 25-8.

The Marauders started out strong in the third set trailing just 6-5 early on. The VIkings offensive attack proved to be too much though as they went on to win the set 25-12 and the game 3-0.

Next up for U-Mary will be Wayne State College. The Marauders and Wildcats will square off Saturday evening at 4 PM.
