MOORHEAD, MN – The University of Mary volleyball team (3-9, 1-3 Northern Sun) fell on the road in three sets (25-17, 25-9, 25-16) to Minnesota State University Moorhead.
UMary recorded 24 kills on a .042 hitting percentage, while MSUM put up 42 kills on a .297 attack percentage. The Marauders posted 24 assists and one ace, while the Dragons had 35 assists and six aces.
A 9-0 run early in the first set put UMary down 11-3. The Marauders tried to make a comeback, but the Dragons held on and closed out the set 25-17.
The second set was all MSUM as the Dragons defeated UMary 25-9. The third set saw MSUM go on a late 7-0 run to take a 20-10 lead. The Marauders showed grit and won five of the next six points but fell 25-16 in the final set.
The match concluded with the Marauders posting six blocks and 41 digs. The Dragons recorded four blocks and 49 digs.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Holli Klettheimer had the most kills (7) on a .227 hitting percentage.
Judith Burke recorded five kills on a tremendous .400 attack percentage in only two sets played.
Norah Thome posted ten digs and had the only ace for the team.
Natalie Boehmer dished out 24 assists to go along with eight digs.
Gabrielle Reynolds had five kills and four digs.
Ruby Rengo had three kills and two solo blocks.
Karina Hixon added five digs.
