CROOKSTON, MN – An outstanding performance by
Judith Burke helped lead the University of Mary volleyball team (3-8, 1-2 Northern Sun) to their first conference victory of the season, defeating the University of Minnesota Crookston (2-9, 0-3 NSIC) in three sets (25-21, 25-21, 25-15).
Burke matched her career-high in kills with 19 and posted a career-best .472 attack percentage. Burke's 19 kills is the most she has recorded in a three-set match. Last season, the Eagle, ID, native put up 19 kills against Minot State University in a five-set victory.
UMary recorded 43 kills on a .340 attack percentage, while UMC put up 37 kills on a .189 hitting percentage. The Marauders posted 42 assists and three aces, while the Golden Eagles had 31 assists and five aces.
The Marauders trailed 19-17 in the first set but rallied to win eight of the last ten points, taking down the set 25-21. Burke recorded three straight kills on assists by
Natalie Boehmer to secure the win for UMary.
The second set was a repeat of the first one, with the Marauders trailing the Golden Eagles 20-19. UMary continued to show grit and went on a 6-1 run to secure a 25-21 set victory. The Marauders dominated the third set from start to finish as they cruised to a 25-15 win to secure the sweep over UMC.
The match finished with the Marauders recording three blocks and 44 digs. The Golden Eagles posted three blocks and 35 digs.

Judith Burke averaged 6.33 kills per set and added five digs to her career night.
Norah Thome tied her season-high in digs (14) and service aces (2).
Holli Klettheimer had seven kills on an impressive .400 hitting percentage.
Natalie Boehmer recorded 33 assists and eight digs.
Gabrielle Reynolds posted eight kills.
Chloe Solheid added 11 digs.
Ruby Rengo put up four kills on eight attempts.
