Record 12 Marauders Heading to 2012 NCAA Track and Field Championships

Bismarck, ND – The University of Mary track team is sending its largest contingent ever to an NCAA championship as 11 members of the women's team and one from the men's have earned an invitation to the national meet. The 2012 NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships are set for May 24-26 in Pueblo, CO.
 
Melissa Agnew, who today was named the 2012 Northern Sun Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year, is the highest seed among the Marauders contingent. The six-time All-American is ranked third in both the 800 and 1,500 meter runs.
 
Jennifer Agnew, Melissa's twin sister, qualified in the 3,000 meter steeplechase and the 5,000 meter run. The junior All-American from Onamia is ranked 6th in the steeplechase and 11th in the 5,000.
 
Dakota Wolf is set to complete in two events for the Marauders. The junior from Dickinson, ND, who paced U-Mary to a fifth-place finish at the cross country nationals in the fall along with the Agnews, is ranked fourth in the 1,500 meter run and 19th in the 5,000 meter run. She is a four-time All-American.
 
Kathryn Stewart will compete in the most events for the Marauders as the freshman from Kingston, Jamaica, will run in the 200 meter dash and both the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays. The 18th seed in the 200, she earned All-American honors in the event during the indoor national meet.
 
Kristyn Nelson and Janet Johnson (So., Kingston, Jamaica) will both compete in the same two events at the NCAA championships, the 100 meter hurdles and the 4x100 meter relay. The duo is ranked 15-16 in the hurdles and will both run on the nation's sixth fastest relay team. A senior from Rollette, ND, Nelson already has earned All-American honors twice at the outdoor meet in the 4x100.
 
Miranda Fehilly, who competed at the 2010 NCAA indoor championships, is making her first outdoor nationals in the pole vault.  Senior from Sidney, MT, She is seeded 15th.
 
A three-time All-American indoors, Melissa Walker (Jr., Kingston, Jamaica) will compete in the long jump and is ranked 17th.
 
The other Marauders are competing in the relays. Rikki Schmidt (Fr., Kintyre, ND), who earned All-American status during the indoor season on the distance medley ray team, will run on both the 4x100 and the 4x400 squads.
 
Megan Jenkins (Jr., Kuna, ID) and Brianna Lynch (Fr., Bismarck, ND) will join Stewart and Schmidt on the 4x100 meter relay team. Running on the 4x100 relay team, seeded 5th, is Schmidt, Nelson, Stewart and Johnson.
 
The lone representative for the men's program is Tracy Lide. The junior from Las Vegas, NV, qualified in the 200 meter dash. He is ranked 16th in the event. Lide had a strong showing at the Northern Sun championships for U-Mary, taking third in the 200 and fourth in the 100 meter dash.
 
U-Mary sent ten competitors to the 2011 NCAA indoor national championships.
