Biography
2018-2019
In her junior year, Kate earned 2018 NSIC All-Conference and All-Region Honors in Cross Country, placing 6th in Aberdeen, SD, and 8th in Joplin, Mo, respectively. The team won the Conference and Regional Title, making it their third consecutive title in each. Kate also ran in the National Meet in Pittsburgh, PA, where the team was the National Runner-up for the second year. During indoor track, Kate competed primarily in the mile and the DMR. At the NSIC Conference meet, Kate was the anchor for the Runner-Up Conference DMR team. She did not compete in outdoor track this season due to injury. During the year, Kate earned All-Academic Honors and was named to the University’s Dean’s List.
2016-2017
As a freshman at UMary, Kate competed in Cross Country, Indoor Track, and Outdoor Track. She was a part of the NSIC Champion Cross Country Team, Central Region Champion Team, and 7th placing team at Nationals. Individually she received 2016 NSIC All-Conference Cross Country Honors with 7th place, 2016 NSIC All-Region Cross Country Honors with 11th, and placed 47th at the National Meet. She also received 2016 All-Academic Honors. In the 2017 Indoor season, she received NSIC All-Conference Honors for placing 2nd with the DMR team and 5th in the mile. The DMR team placed 12th at Nationals in 2017. Kate also ran outdoor track with a mark of 4:37.33 in the 1500 M.
2017-2018
Kate participated in Cross Country and earned 2017 NSIC All-Conference and All-Region Honors with a 9th place finish and 6th place finish, respectively. She also reached All-American Status by placing 29th at the 2017 National Meet. She was a part of the 2017 NSIC Champion Team, the 2017 Central Region Champion Team, and a part of the 2017 NCAA Division II National Runner-Up team. She also earned All-Academic Honors and was given Dean’s List Honors.
PRIOR TO UMARY
In the sport of Cross Country, Kate received All-State Honors four years. As a freshman in high school, 8th place. She placed 16th sophomore year, 3rd, junior year, and was the 2015 Class B State Champion. Kate was the Regional Champion in 2014 and 2015, and was also named West-Region Athlete of the year. She was Senior Athlete of the Year in 2015. In 2014, she was a part of the State Runner-Up team, the Southern McLean Roughriders.
In track and field, Kate also claimed All-State Honors for four years. In 2013, she placed 7th in the 3200 M. In 2014, sophomore year, she placed 4th in the 1600 M and 5th in the 3200 M. Junior year Kate placed 6th in the 800 M, and was the runner-up in the 1600 M and 3200 M. Senior year (2016), she was the Regional Athlete of the Year and placed 7th in the 800 M, 3rd in the 3200 M, and was the runner-up in the 1600 M.
Kate’s parents are Jim and Jeanette Fox of Wing, ND. She graduated from Wing High School as class Valedictorian. She participated in Band, Student Council, National Honor Society, Honor Roll, Annual Staff, and participated in Acalympics all four years of high school. She also received Academic All-State Honorable Mention in 2016. Other activities included Bison Best Robotics and 4-H, and being an active member of the Wing community.
