Kristine Kalthoff and wrestler
Lane Ewing are the Marauders 2025-26 Northern Sun Honor Student-Athlete Award winners for their combination of academic excellence, involvement in the campus community, and athletic success.
Kalthoff had an outstanding season and was named the 2026 Indoor Track Athlete of the Year. She was the 2026 NSIC Indoor Championships High Point Performer and Meet MVP. The senior from Albany, MN, is a three-time conference champion and a two-time runner-up. Kalthoff has made the conference podium 12 times and has earned all-conference honors on five separate occasions.
She was named the University of Mary Class of 2025 Outstanding Senior of the Year. This honor is awarded annually by the University of Mary Alumni Committee and the University President to one member of the graduating class based on academic achievement, community service, and service to the University of Mary. She was announced as the 2024 University of Mary Outstanding Civil Engineering Student of the Year, awarded annually to an exemplary Civil Engineering major, nominated and voted on by engineering faculty.
Additionally, Kalthoff is a three-time Academic All-American, four-time 4x Academic All-Region, and a four-time NSIC Academic All-Conference recipient in cross country. She was a member of the highest team GPA in NCAA DII 2023 and a member of the second-highest team GPA in NCAA DII 2024. In track, she is a seven-time Academic All-Region and a seven-time Academic All-Conference member.
Ewing earned All-American honors for the first time in his career, finishing third at the 2026 NCAA Division II National Championships. The Douglas, WY, native earned second-team All-Conference honors and finished runner-up at regionals. Ewing, a team captain, set the single-season takedown record (94), tied the wins record (33), and recorded the most points scored in a season (395).
The redshirt-sophomore has a 3.97 GPA while majoring in Cybersecurity with a minor in Computer Information Systems. He is an NSIC Elite 18 Award Recipient and was announced as a 2025 NWCA Scholar All-American. Ewing has made the Dean's List five times at UMary. He leads the FOCUS Wrestling Bible Study for the Marauders.
