BURNSVILLE, MN – After NCAA provisional times in multiple events and a nationally top-five relay outing, University of Mary women's track and field senior
Laila Cleare was named the Northern Sun's Track Athlete of the Week.
Cleare's strong week started at the Pacific Coast Invitational in Long Beach, CA in the 100m. She was the top Division II finisher in the race with an 11.52, ranking 11
th in the nation and 2
nd in the NSIC.
She also competed in the 200m and achieved an NCAA provisional time of 23.76, ranking 18
th in the nation. She is 2
nd in the NSIC in the event behind teammate
Kelescia Downes.
At the Bryan Clay Invitational, Cleare was a member of the 4x400m Relay. Joining Downes,
Tayen Werner, and
Tionce Walrond, the Marauders finished with a time of 3:39.70 to rank 5
th in the nation. The Marauders are the lone team in the NSIC with an NCAA provisional time in the 4x400m Relay.
This is Cleare's third career conference athlete of the week honor across both indoor and outdoor seasons.
