BISMARCK, ND – With select athletes performing in California from April 16 to 18 and the remainder of the University of Mary women's track and field team competing at the Blue Hawk Games in Dickinson, ND, the Marauders had success in multiple regions.
CALIFORNIA RECAP
The Marauders' California trip started on a high note, with
Kristine Kalthoff achieving a PR in the 10,000m at the Bryan Clay Invitational on Thursday. Her time of 35:22.64 is an NCAA provisional time ranking 30
th in the nation and 2
nd in the NSIC.
On the same day, the Marauders were also competing at the Pacific Coast Invitational.
Laila Cleare was the top Division II finisher (6
th) in the 100m with an 11.52, ranking 11
th in the nation.
Kelescia Downes and Cleare both had top 10 finishes in the 200m. Downes' time of 23.72 ranks 15
th in the nation, and Cleare's time of 23.76 slots in at 18
th.
Tayen Werner had an NCAA provisional time of 24.04 at the meet, ranking 38
th in the nation.
Downes also clocked in at 54.43 in the 400m at the Pacific Coast Invite, ranking 21
st in the nation.
On Thursday at the ULV Leopard Invitational, freshman
Faith Jepchumba won the 10,000m in 35:15.25, ranking 26
th in the nation and 1
st in the NSIC.
Following the strong Thursday, the Marauders had more standout performances at the Bryan Clay Invitational.
Tayen Werner entered the top 15 nationally in the 400m, clocking in at 54.09. The sophomore ranks 14
th in the nation and 1
st in the NSIC.
Tionce Walrond now ranks 34
th in the nation in the event after finishing with a 55.03.
The strongest performance of the weekend came in the 4x400m Relay. Downes, Cleare, Walrond, and Werner joined forces in the event and placed 2
nd in a race that featured several Division I schools. The time of 3:39.70 ranks 5
th in the nation.

The Marauders had a strong Sunday at the Blue Hawk Games in Dickinson, ND.
Savana Sanchez won the 100m with a time of 12.20.
Makayla Allmaras earned a PR in the 100m Hurdles at 14.33, winning the event.
Kendal Berg (25.45) and
Mya Nishimura (25.47) finished neck-and-neck at the top of the leaderboard in the 200m.
Grace Brandt won the 400m at 58.77.
Ellyn Engels was victorious in the 1500m at 5:01.67.
Gianna Frasher earned her first career victory in the 5000m at 20:03.00.
Multi-athlete
Anna Rader achieved a PR in the High Jump at 1.60m, winning the event.
It was a strong day for the pole vaulters.
Rylee Scoular (3.20m),
Emma Bixby (3.05m), and
Aubrey Delaney (2.90m) all took home PRs. They finished 1
st, 2
nd, and 4
th respectively.
Anna Bruno hit a PR in the Triple Jump, winning the event with an 11.88m leap.
