VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – University of Mary women's track and field sprinters
Tayen Werner and
Laila Cleare both succeeded in the prelims and will compete in tomorrow's finals for their events at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
Cleare came into the meet as the 14
th seed in the 60m, but reached the final 8 with a time of 7.36. She earned automatic qualifier status by placing 2
nd in her heat and had the 3
rd best time out of all 17 competitors in the prelims. Cleare tied her own school record in the process and cut 0.07 seconds off her season-best time.
Werner placed 3
rd in the initial heat of the 400m and was never on the bubble of elimination for the remaining four heats. When all was said and done, the sophomore's time of 54.01 was 6
th out of 18 runners and advanced to tomorrow's finals.

Cleare will race in the 60m finals tomorrow at 3:20 p.m. Werner's 400m race will be at 4:10 p.m.
