DAY 1 RECAP
MANKATO, MN – After starting the day in 8
th place overall, the University of Mary men's track and field team ascended four spots in the standings. Across the two days, the Marauders had two champions and five All-NSIC performances.
Kenny Moxey Jr. was able to hold on to his Heptathlon lead from Day 1, becoming UMary's first men's indoor champion in any event since
Diego Andres-Dougan won the 60m Hurdles in 2024. The sophomore won the first event of the day, the 60m Hurdles, building enough of a cushion to win the event by just 40 points.
Moxey Jr. scored 5,252 points, breaking his own school record. He is now 5
th in the nation in the Heptathlon, securing a trip to the National Championships.
It was a crowded podium in the 600m for UMary, topped by
Nathan Andrews, who won the event. His time of 1:19.93 broke his own school record. Behind him was
Ryan Koberoski, who won the first heat with a PR of 1:20.95, which was good enough to place 2
nd.
Jack Koppelsloen placed 6
th at 1:21.92 and
Josiah Pena finished in 8
th at 1:26.11.
Andrews and Koberoski joined
Colby Fleck and
Dawson Hawkinson in the 4x400m Relay and earned All-NSIC honors by finishing 3
rd at 3:19.27.
Gideon Hammah secured an All-NSIC finish in the Mile, placing 3
rd at 4:20.77.
Dylan Payer, who had transferred to UMary from Coastal Carolina University midway through the season, scored conference points by winning his heat and placing 6
th with a 4:22.76.
Lucas Kupfer placed 2
nd in the High Jump to earn All-NSIC honors. He joined the field at 2.01m and cleared two heights, tying his personal best of 2.04m.
Will Mickelson joined him on the podium in a three-way tie for 8
th at 1.96m.
Senior
Dawson Hawkinson scored points in the 60m Dash, finishing at 6.95. He also got on the podium in the 200m Dash, placing 7
th at 22.17.
Freshman
Ian Butman put together a great performance in the 800m, racing to a PR of 1:55.92 to finish 5
th.
Sophomore
Joseph Ringhand took home a 6
th-place finish in the 1000m at 2:32.76.
Jake Hettinger hit a PR in the Shot Put on his first throw with a 16.66m, an NCAA provisional mark, to place 6th. The junior ranks 37
th in the nation in the event.
