BURNSVILLE, MN – For the second time this season and the third time in her career, University of Mary women's track and field sophomore
Tayen Werner has been named the NSIC Track Athlete of the Week.
Werner had an excellent showing at the UND Open last weekend, winning the 400m Dash in a field that included over 10 Division I athletes. Her personal best time of 54.49 was enough to break
Sakena Massiah's school record that was set last season.
The Canadian sophomore now ranks 6
th in the nation in the event and has the best time in the NSIC.
Werner then joined
Kelescia Downes,
Tionce Walrond, and
Kate Van Erp for the 4x400m Relay and finished as the top Division II team at the meet, placing 3rd. Their time of 3:48.06 ranks 15
th in the nation and is the best in the NSIC.
Werner, a 2025 Outdoor All-American, has also achieved an NCAA provisional time in the 200m Dash this year, ranking 26
th in the nation.
The Marauders will head to Fargo, ND, this week to take part in the Bison Open on Feb. 6 and 7.
