UMary women’s track and field 23rd nationally in first USTFCCCA TFRI rankings

NEW ORLEANS, LA – Following an unbeaten start to the season, the University of Mary women's track and field team earned the 23rd spot in the USTFCCCA's first Track and Field Ratings Index (TFRI) rankings.

The rankings are determined by national placement in individual events. Currently, the Marauders have nationally recognized performers in six individual events and a relay.

In order of ranking points, UMary received contributions from the following:
Tionce Walrond (200m)
Tayen Werner (400m)
Laila Claire (60m)
Brie Apelian, Kelescia Downes, Kate Van Erp, Tayen Werner (4x400m)
Anna Bruno (Long Jump)
Tayen Werner (200m)
Kelescia Downes (400m)

The Marauders peaked at 14th nationally last indoor season before finishing at 22nd in the national rankings.

UMary will be competing at the UND Open this weekend beginning tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. with the Pentathlon. The Marauders will return home on February 21 before the NSIC Championships on February 27 and 28 in Mankato, MN.
