BISMARCK, ND – The University of Mary men's golf team took a lead into the second day of competition at the Marauders Invitational, finishing the tournament in 4
th place. Sophomore
Quinn Breidenbach competed for the individual title in a four-way playoff, but came up just short.
The Marauders were brilliant on day 1, playing to a 287 (-1) for their best round of the season. The team was led by
Lucas Schoepp's 69 (-3).
Lucas Greenlun and Breidenbach had even par 72s in round 1 to give the Marauders a four-stroke lead.
The wind picked up significantly on day 2 as team scores jumped almost entirely across the board. Breidenbach, however, was sensational with an eagle and four birdies on Tuesday as he played to a 74 (+2).
After just barely missing a birdie putt on the final hole, Breidenbach joined a four-way playoff with Augustana's Derek Anderson and Jacob Stewart, and MSU-Billings' Mark Pramounmat. Anderson went on to win with a chip-in eagle on the first playoff hole.
Competing on the B team, freshman
Ryker Landers placed 7
th with a 148 (+4).
Lucas Greenlun followed in 14
th with a 151 (+7).
Evan Booth placed 21
st at 152 (+8).
Lucas Schoepp came in 24
th at 153 (+9).
David Thomson and
Aiden Knodel tied for 26
th with a 154 (+10).
