BISMARCK, ND – Following a decorated collegiate career that included both leadership and coaching responsibilities, the University of Mary has tabbed Kyle Kasitz as head coach of the Marauders men's and women's golf teams.
A three-time all-conference performer and team captain at Taylor University located in Upland, IN, Kasitz also served as an assistant coach for the Trojans' nationally-ranked men's and women's squads.
"Our golf programs have benefited from strong leadership and steady growth in recent years, and we were intentional in identifying a coach who we believe could build upon that foundation while continuing to move the programs forward," said UMary Director of Intercollegiate Athletics
Marcus Wagner. "Kyle impressed us throughout the search process with his poise, leadership, and commitment to developing scholar-athletes at a high level. He understands that coaching is about more than performance; it is about creating an environment where scholar-athletes are challenged, supported, and encouraged to develop the habits and character that will serve them well beyond graduation. We are excited for him to continue strengthening our programs and helping our scholar-athletes pursue Greatness Through Virtue in competition, in the classroom, and in life."
A native of Wichita, KS, Kasitz was a player-assistant coach this spring. He worked with Taylor Head Coach Steven Toon to develop practice plans, recruit scholar-athletes, coach the women's team during events and create team workouts, along with working on scheduling and budgeting. The Taylor women's squad ranked as high as No. 18 this spring and featured two NAIA All-Americans, two All-Crossroads performers and an NAIA national qualifier. The men's program was the conference runner-up and featured a Crossroads-high six all-league golfers.
"I am truly blessed and humbled for the opportunity to be the next head men's and women's golf coach at the University of Mary," said Kasitz. "I am grateful for the Lord's guidance through this process and would like to thank President Monsignor James P. Shea, Executive Vice President Jerome Richter, and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics
Marcus Wagner, along with the rest of the athletic department, for their generosity and commitment to me and the future of the golf program. As I step into this role, I am excited to help our scholar-athletes compete at a high level and pursue God's glory through it all."
