Becker named to prestigious Academic All-America 1st team for 2025

AUSTIN, TX – Combining elite success as a distance runner with an impressive performance in the classroom, University of Mary senior Alyssa Becker crowned her incredible Marauders scholar-athlete career by garnering a coveted spot on the 2025 Academic All-America® NCAA Division II Women's Track & Field/Cross Country first team as selected by the College Sports Communicators (CSC).

This is the first time Becker has claimed a spot on the prestigious CoSIDA/CSC Academic All-America® team.

The Seabeck, WA native is one of only six Marauders to ever earn first team Academic All-America® honors from CSC/CoSIDA. She joins UMary's Reece Barnhardt (wrestling) and Isaac Pegor (baseball) as 1st team selections in 2025, the first time three Marauders have earned 1st team honors in a single year. This is the second straight season three Marauders have earned Academic All-America® recognition (1st, 2nd or 3rd team).

Additionally Becker is the only Northern Sun scholar-athlete on the 15-member first team and one of two total from the NSIC named to the 45-member 1st, 2nd and 3rd Academic All-America® teams.

Becker graduated this spring from the University of Mary with a degree in Nursing and owns a 3.95 GPA.

During the 2025 NSIC indoor track & field championships Becker won both the 3000 and 5000 meter titles at the NSIC championships and finished as the NSIC High Point Performer on the way to earning NSIC Indoor Track Athlete of the Year recognition. She then earned second team All-American honors at the 2025 NCAA indoor championships.

Becker concluded her UMary career as a 4-time All-American (two first team, two second team), won four NSIC individual titles, earned All-NSIC honors 11 times and All-Region honors 13 times, competed in five NCAA championships and was named the NSIC Cross Country Athlete of the Week three times. The Dean's List student earned the Northern Sun Myles Brand All-Academic with Distinction award and was named to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence nine times and earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors six times.
