BISMARCK, ND – The 13
th-ranked University of Mary women's track and field team knocked down a pair of records at home to win the UMary Senior Open at the MDU Resources Community Bowl on Sunday, Apr. 27.
Laila Cleare won the 100m dash with an excellent time of 11.29, breaking a school record of 11.45 that was set last year by
Arianna Passeri. The time places Cleare 4
th in the nation in the event.
The junior then won the 200m dash with a PR of 23.38. She is now 6
th in the nation in the event.
Cleare was then a part of the victorious 4x100m relay with
Tionce Walrond,
Sakena Massiah, and
Kelescia Downes. The squad had a time of 45.08, breaking the school record by over half a second. That time is currently 11
th in the nation.
Bernadette Belzer won the 400m hurdles at 1:02.73, which is a PR for the sophomore.
Freshman
Anna Nasset earned her first collegiate victory with a 1.63m high jump.
Grace Baker, another freshman, earned her first collegiate victory in the long jump at 5.16m. She also set PRs in the 200m (27.21) and the 100m hurdles (17.00).
Alexa Delzer took home wins in both the shot put (10.64m) and the discus (30.66m). The discus was a PR for the freshman.

NDSU BISON OPEN RECAP
Several distance runners traveled to Fargo for the NDSU Bison Open on Friday, Apr. 25.
Terez Wycklendt won the 5000m run with an 18:04.10, just ahead of
Giselle Jahner's PR of 18:39.66. Jahner placed 3
rd in the race.
