PUEBLO, CO – The University of Mary women's track and field team was represented by a group of distance runners at the Chuck Haering Classic in Colorado on Friday, Mar. 28.
Elizabeth Acheson broke her own school record to highlight the day.
Acheson, a senior, placed second in the 800m run with a time of 2:05.74. Coincidentally, the race featured the top two times in the nation so far, with CSU Pueblo's Helen Braybrook taking the top spot with a victorious time of 2:04.11.
The previous school record in the event was 2:07.28, which Acheson set last season.
Alyssa Becker placed third in the 5000m run with an NCAA qualifying time of 17:15.35. That's good enough for seventh in the nation.
Kristine Kalthoff had a strong showing in the 1500m run, placing second with a 4:41.45.
On the men's side, Gideon Hammah set a school record in the 1500m run with a 3:53.99. That record had stood since 2012, belonging to Jesse Bennett with a 3:54.04.
Up next for the UMary track and field team will be the Al Bortke Open at home on Apr. 5, held at the MDU Resources Community Bowl in Bismarck, ND.
