BISMARCK, ND – The University of Mary men's track and field team began its season with a strong home performance, winning the Mike Thorson Alumni Classic.
Nathan Andrews made his collegiate debut in a big way, setting the school record in the 600m with a 1:19.94 and winning the event. The previous record was set last season by
Osvaldo Cano at 1:21.02.
Andrews then joined
Emanuel Latawiec,
Jon Rice, and
Ryan Koberoski in the 4x400m Relay to win the event by over 13 seconds.
Freshman
Colby Fleck also impressed, winning the 60m at 6.96. He then went on to win the 200m with a time of 22.10.
In field events, sophomore
Will Mickelson started his year with a win in the High Jump, hitting a mark of 1.95m.
Junior
Ty Allen won the Long Jump with a PR of 6.93m to earn his first career win in the event.
Jake Hettinger claimed victory in the Shot Put with a throw of 16.10m, which is a personal best by nearly half a meter.
