UMary women’s track and field wins UMary Alumni Open with multiple qualifying marks

BISMARCK, ND – The University of Mary women's track and field team won the UMary Alumni Open on Saturday, Dec. 13. It is the second consecutive win to start the season for the Marauders.

Makayla Allmaras earned the first win for the Marauders in the 60m Hurdles with a time of 9.16. It is the sophomore's first win in the event in her career.

Tayen Werner took home the win in 400m with a 56.01. That time ranks as 4th in the nation currently. Werner joined Gabriella Apelian, Kelescia Downes, and Kate Van Erp in the 4x400m Relay, winning the event at 3:53.72, which is currently a top-10 time in the nation.

Downes also earned the victory in the 600m with a PR of 1:35.83.

Anna Bruno had a strong day, winning the Long Jump with a 5.90m leap. She is now 8th in the nation in the event. Bruno also competed in the 60m, finishing 2nd with a PR of 7.81.

UMary will be back in action in the new year for the Marauders 2026 Indoor Opener. The meet will take place on Jan. 17 from the UMary Fieldhouse.
