BISMARCK, ND – The University of Mary women's track and field team had four of its members win events at the UMary Winter Classic, with two improving their national rankings. As a team, the Marauders placed second out of eight schools.
Elizabeth Acheson impressed in the 600m dash, setting a facility record in the UMary Fieldhouse with a time 1:33.04. That is a personal best for the All-American in the event as well.
Morgan Hertz (1:36.13),
Kelescia Downes (1:38.65), and
Amber Rosemeier (1:38.71) all had top 5 finishes in the event.
Tionce Walrond won the 200m dash with an NCAA qualifying time of 24.72. She was closely followed by
Mara Bruno, who placed second with a time of 25.60.
Jazymyn Christen was victorious in her season debut in the 5,000m run. The junior paced the field with a time of 20:24.15.
Taylor Weidner improved her season best in the long jump with a winning mark of 5.73m. The senior is now 28
th in the nation in the event. She was closely followed by
Anna Bruno, who earned an NCAA qualifying mark of 5.71m, which places her in 30
th in the nation.
Tia Horning placed second in the 60m hurdles, but set a personal best of 8.76 in the event. She is now 27
th in the nation in the event and 6
th in the NSIC.

A trip to Colorado is next for the Marauders as they will take part in the Mines Winter Classic and Multi hosted by the Colorado School of Mines. Competition will begin on Friday, Jan. 31, with the heptathlon and pentathlon concluding on Saturday, Feb. 1.
