GREENSBORO, NC – The postseason awards continue for the University of Mary's
Mark Schommer as the Marauders relief pitcher was tabbed for the 2024 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) / Rawlings NCAA Division II All-Central Region squad. Schommer is a 1
st team selection, the first time a UMary scholar-athlete has claimed a spot on the top ABCA/Rawlings regional team.
Virtually unhittable throughout the season, Schommer previously earned Northern Sun all-conference first team honors and National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) All-Central Region second team recognition for 2024.
The righthanded reliever from New Ulm, MN, struck out 39 batters and allowed just 13 hits and seven walks in 26 innings. The senior pitched in 13 games, including one start, and finished with a record of 3-1 with four saves, a 1.73 ERA and a 0.77 WHIP.
Of the five runs Schommer allowed this season, four came in the final game of the season when he pitched a career-high five innings of relief in an extra-inning Northern Sun tournament game.
He allowed a hit in just seven of his 13 outings and a baserunner in only eight outings.
Schommer finished his Marauders career with a 6-3 record and 10 saves. He appeared in 52 games covering 83.2 innings, striking out 102 and walking 30 while allowing 74 hits and posting a 3.98 ERA.
Schommer is only the second University of Mary scholar-athlete to earn ABCA/Rawlings All-Central Region honors. Mike Feldman was a 2
nd team selection as an outfielder in 2008.
