Record by Acheson headlines Marauders efforts from Badlands to West Coast

DICKINSON, ND and LONG BEACH and AZUSA, CA – All-American Elizabeth Acheson broke her own school record and the University of Mary women's track & field team picked up five NCAA provisional qualifying marks oven an impressive two days as the Marauders competed across the country from the Badlands to the West Coast.
 
Racing on day two of the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific, Acheson brought her best while competing in a field dominated by NCAA Division I and professional runners. The Northfield, MN, native was clocked in 2:07.28, an NCAA provisional qualifying effort. While she placed 54th overall out of 120 runners, Acheson was the only NCAA Division II runner in the top 67.
 
Acheson currently ranks 4th in the nation in the 800.
 
Andrijana Fundak also had a big day at the Bryan Clay, placing 5th out of 49 runners in the 10,000 meter run. With a time of 35:28.06 Fundak currently is 9th in the country with her provisional qualifying effort.
 
Arianna Passeri opened the Marauders West Coast competition with an NCAA provo mark in the long jump at the Pacific Coast Invitational in Long Beach, CA. The UMary All-American placed third with a mark of 6.17 meters, the 4th best mark in the country. In the field of 65 competitors, Passeri was the lone NCAA D2 jumper in the top 14.
 
The Marauders also had a strong day at the Dickinson State University Blue Hawk Games on Friday.
 
Tia Horning won the 100 meter hurdles with a clocking of 14.13 seconds. With her NCAA provisional qualifying time, Horning is 20th nationally.
 
Horning also placed second in the 400 meter hurdles, clearing the barriers in 1:05.55.
 
Taylor Weidner picked up a pair of titles on the day, winning both the long jump and triple jump. The Bismarck, ND, posted an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 5.88 meters in the long jump, which places her 27th in the national rankings. Her top triple jump mark was 11.25 meters.
 
Several other Marauders also had strong performances:
  • Jericca Pachl took second in the high jump (1.60 meters)
  • Teresa Blote claimed second in the 500 meter run (19:49.39)
  • Micah Bernard was 3rd in the 200 (26.09 seconds) and 5th in the 100 (12.54 seconds)
  • Rachael Neu took 3rd in the 3000 steeplechase (12:22.13)
 
The Marauders continue competing Saturday, April 13, on the final day of the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific in Azusa, CA.
