BILLINGS, MT - After weather delayed the University of Mary men's track & field team's start to the 2024 spring season, the Marauders outdoor schedule begins on Thursday, March 28, at the Yellowjackets/Battlin' Bears Open in Lockwood, MT.

UMary then hosts the Al Bortke Open on Saturday, March 30, in Bismarck, ND, at the MDU Resources Community Bowl and the UMary Fieldhouse and Wellness Center.

The event is hosted by MSU Billings and Rocky Mountain College at Lockwood High School. Field Events begin at 11:30 am CDT/ 10:30 am MDT, and track events are scheduled for 11:48 am CDT/ 10:48 am MDT.

Al Bortke Open Info
All field events, except the discus throw, are scheduled to take place at the UMary Fieldhouse from 11 am to 1 pm. The discus throw and all running events will take place at the MDU Resources Community Bowl beginning at 2 pm.

Hayden Von Wald and Diego Andres-Dougan are the 2024 Northern Sun Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes to Watch for the University of Mary men's track and field team. UMary is picked to finish 6th in the NSIC men's outdoor preseason coaches' poll.

Von Wald looks to impress in both the triple jump and long jump this outdoor season. The Selby, SD, native recorded a fifth-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 7.19 meters at the 2024 Northern Sun Championships.

Last year, the Marauders took fourth in the NSIC outdoor men's championships and finished sixth in indoor this season. The 2024 NSIC outdoor championships are scheduled for May 9-11 in Mankato, MN.
