Box Score Owatonna, MN - The University of Mary tennis team kicked off their 2024 season in dominant fashion, defeating Winona State University 6-1 in their season opener and first Northern Sun competition.

The event began with doubles competition. Chloe Chong and Ilona Freitag took down Sara Anderson and Lainy Ristau 6-3 in #1 doubles. The team of Hala Hossam Awad and Maria Estinvil won #2 doubles 6-1 over Halle Rosentreter and Clara Thoemke. Emily Needham and Luba Moyo fought hard but fell 7-5 to Ally Burger and Elysia Beynon in #3 doubles.

Chloe Chong was impressive in her matchup against Sara Anderson, winning 6-0, 6-2 in #1 singles action.

Hala Hossam Awad opens the season by defeating Halle Rosentreter 6-3, 6-0 in #2 singles.

Ilona Freitag clinched the Marauders the win by defeating Lainy Ristau in #3 singles by a scorecard of 6-3, 7-6 (7-4).

Maria Estinvil picked up the win in her UMary debut, defeating Clara Thoemke in #4 singles 6-1, 6-2.

Emily Needham was dominant against Elysia Beynon, winning 6-1, 6-1 in #5 singles.

Luba Moyo fell short in her Marauders debut as she lost to Ally Burger 6-1, 6-3 in #6 singles.
