Marauders to face Golden Eagles in quarterfinals of NSIC tournament

SIOUX FALLS, SD – The postseason awaits the University of Mary tennis team as the Marauders take on the University of Minnesota Crookston in the quarterfinals of the NSIC tournament. The match takes place in Sioux Falls, SD, at the Huether Family Match Pointe on Friday, April 24, at 1:30 pm.

The winner takes on #1 seeded Augustana University in the semifinals of the tournament on Saturday, April 25, at 1:30 pm.

THE RECORD
The Marauders finished the regular season with a 6-10 overall record and 4-6 in the Northern Sun. UMary placed fifth in the NSIC standings.

LAST TIME OUT
The Marauders won both of their matches against Bemidji State University (7-0) and the University of Minnesota Duluth (6-1). Elizabete Leske and Brooke Mullholand went undefeated in both singles and doubles competitions.

STATS
Elizabete Lekse is 8-8 in #2 singles, 6-6 in #1 doubles, and 4-0 in #3 doubles.

Anna Sueflohn is 8-6 in #4 singles, 7-3 in #2 doubles, and 0-5 in #3 doubles.

Brooke Mulholland is 2-0 in #5 singles, 6-7 in #6 singles, and 7-9 in #3 doubles.

Natalia Jorge Magarzo is 4-12 in #1 singles, 4-2 in #2 doubles, and 4-6 in #1 doubles.

Josie Sueflohn is 7-9 in #3 singles, 6-2 in #2 doubles, and 3-3 in #1 doubles.

Maja Panganiban is 2-0 in #4 singles, 3-11 in #5 singles, 1-3 in #1 doubles, 4-2 in #2 doubles, and 2-4 in #3 doubles.

Abbigail Athey is 1-1 in #6 singles and 1-0 in #3 doubles.

OPPO RESEARCH – UMC
The University of Minnesota Crookston finished the regular season with a 10-8 record overall and a 7-3  record in the conference. The Golden Eagles took fourth in the conference standings. UMC defeated UMary 4-3 in Grand Forks, ND, earlier in the season.

SUEFLOHN NAMED NSIC PLAYER TO WATCH
Sophomore Anna Sueflohn was named the NSIC Tennis Player to Watch for the Marauders. The Delafield, WI, native earned Second Team All-NSIC doubles honors last year. Sueflohn is the only returner from the 2025 team.

MARAUDERS PROJECTED TO FINISH FOURTH
The 2026 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll has projected the University of Mary tennis team to finish fourth in the NSIC for the 2026 season.
Last season, the Marauders finished fourth in the NSIC, compiling a 6-10 overall record and a 5-4 record in the conference. UMary fell in the quarterfinals to Minnesota State University Moorhead.

NEWCOMERS
The Marauders see six newcomers join the team. Abbigail Athey, Natalia Jorge Magarzo, Elizabete Lekse, Brooke Mulholland, Maja Panganiban, and Josie Sueflohn will look to make an immediate impact in their debut seasons.

PORTER ENTERS SECOND YEAR IN CHARGE
Head coach Erik Porter enters his second year at the helm of the UMary tennis program. Porter previously served as the Marauders assistant coach from 2022 to 2024. He has earned multiple all-conference honors as a tennis player and has been an instructor since 2015.
