MANDAN, ND – The University of Mary tennis team looks to finish the regular season strong as the Marauders compete in two games over the weekend at the Mandan Tennis Center.
UMary opens against Bemidji State University on Saturday, April 11, at 1 pm. The Marauders then challenge the University of Minnesota Duluth on Sunday, April 12, at 9 am.

THE RECORD
The Marauders are 4-10 overall and 2-6 in the Northern Sun. UMary is tied for eighth place in the NSIC standings.
PLAYOFF IMPLICATIONS
The top six teams in the Northern Sun make the NSIC tennis tournament. The Marauders can still finish as high as fifth, depending on the results of other matches around the conference. To make the playoffs, UMary must win both games this weekend.
LAST TIME OUT
The Marauders fell 4-3 in two heartbreaking matches against the University of Jamestown and the University of Minnesota Crookston in their most recent contests.

Bemidji State University has a 10-5 record and is 4-4 in the NSIC. The Beavers are fifth in the conference standings. Sophomore Mia Lesham has a 4-8 record in #1 singles, and freshman Paula Garcia Acebal owns a 6-6 record in #2 singles.
OPPO RESEARCH – UMD
The University of Minnesota Duluth has a 2-8 record and is 1-7 in the conference. The Bulldogs are tied for 10
th in the NSIC standings. Senior Carly Chaney is 1-9 in #1 singles, and sophomore Sydney Friedrich is 2-5 in #2 singles.
SUEFLOHN NAMED NSIC PLAYER TO WATCH
Sophomore
Anna Sueflohn was named the NSIC Tennis Player to Watch for the Marauders. The Delafield, WI, native earned Second Team All-NSIC doubles honors last year. Sueflohn is the only returner from the 2025 team.
MARAUDERS PROJECTED TO FINISH FOURTH
The 2026 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll has projected the University of Mary tennis team to finish fourth in the NSIC for the 2026 season.
Last season, the Marauders finished fourth in the NSIC, compiling a 6-10 overall record and a 5-4 record in the conference. UMary fell in the quarterfinals to Minnesota State University Moorhead.

PORTER ENTERS SECOND YEAR IN CHARGE
Head coach
Erik Porter enters his second year at the helm of the UMary tennis program. Porter previously served as the Marauders assistant coach from 2022 to 2024. He has earned multiple all-conference honors as a tennis player and has been an instructor since 2015.
