MANDAN, ND – The University of Mary tennis team (6-10, 4-6 Northern Sun) clinched a spot in the NSIC tournament after UMary defeated the University of Minnesota Duluth (1-10, 1-9 NSIC) 6-1. The Marauders compete in the first round of the NSIC tournament on April 24.
Before the game, the team hosted senior day to honor
Abbigail Athey for her contributions on and off the court for the University of Mary.
UMary won the doubles competition 2-1, giving the Marauders one team point.
Natalia Jorge Magarzo and
Maja Panganiban grabbed a 6-2 win in #1 doubles over Courtney Eppen and Olivia Gorton.
Anna Sueflohn and
Josie Sueflohn fell to Carly Chaney and Paige Heideman 6-2 in #2 doubles.
Brooke Mulholland and
Elizabete Lekse were victorious in #3 doubles, 6-3 over Morgan Hammer and Danica Silcox.
Natalia Jorge Magarzo was dominant in #1 singles, defeating Carly Chaney 6-1, 6-1.
Elizabete Lekse took down #2 singles 6-2, 6-2 over Morgan Hammer.
Josie Sueflohn won a thriller over Paige Heideman 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 in #3 singles.
Anna Sueflohn continued her strong run of form in #4 singles, defeating Danica Silcox 6-2, 6-0.
Brooke Mulholland grinded out a hard-fought win over Olivia Gorton 3-6, 6-2, in # 6 singles.
Maja Panganiban came up short 6-3, 6-4 in #5 singles to Mia Miller.
