Marauders close out 2024 at home against BSU Saturday

BISMARCK, ND – With Christmas break approaching, the University of Mary women's basketball team welcomes Bemidji State University to the McDowell Activity Center on Saturday, December 21, at 1:30 pm.

TICKETS FAQ
  • Fans who purchase tickets online receive a discount over tickets purchased at the gate. Single-game basketball tickets are $10 plus fees when fans buy online at www.UMaryTickets.com or via the Hometown Fan app. Tickets for seniors (ages 65 and older) and youth (ages 13-18) are $5 plus fees.
  • Single-game basketball tickets purchased at the gate are $15 for adults and $10 for seniors and youth.
  • Children under the age of 13 are free when accompanied by an adult. Unaccompanied children's ticket prices are $5.

THE RECORD
UMary is 6-3 on the season and 3-2 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. The Marauders currently sit in 5th in the NSIC standings.

LAST TIME OUT
UMary defeated the University of Minnesota Crookston (68-54) and St. Cloud State University (73-55) by double digits. Moriku Hakim recorded her first double-double of the season against UMC, posting 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Emily Jaenke dropped 19 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the field against SCSU. Bergan Kinnebrew averaged 13.5 points per game over the two contests. Ryleigh Wacha averaged 10.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.

STAT LEADERS
Bergan Kinnebrew leads the team in scoring (15.6 ppg). Kinnebrew ranks 8th in the NSIC in scoring, 1st in free throw percentage (.922) and 25th in minutes played (29.6).

Emily Jaenke is second on the team in scoring (9.1 ppg). She leads the team in three-pointers made (22) and is second in three-point percentage (.458). Jaenke is third in the NSIC in three-pointers made per game (2.4).

Ryleigh Wacha leads UMary in three-point percentage (.550). She is averaging 7.6 ppg and 5.1 rebounds per game.

Addison Rozell has recorded the most blocks for UMary (14) and is second in rebounding (5.6). Rozell is 4th in the NSIC in blocks per game (1.6) and 20th in rebounding.

Eden Fridley has the most steals on UMary with 14 and leads the team in assists (25). She is tied for 8th in the NSIC in steals per game (1.6) and is 13th in assists per game (2.8).

Moriku Hakim leads the Marauders in rebounding (5.8 rpg) off the bench. Hakim ranks 18th in the NSIC in rebounds per game.

OPPO RESEARCH – BEMIDJI STATE UNIVERSITY
BSU is 3-6 on the year and 1-4 in the Northern Sun. Junior forward Rachel Koening leads the Beavers in scoring, averaging 10.5 ppg on 54.5 percent shooting from the field. Sophomore guard Tieryn Plasch is second in scoring (10.4 ppg), shooting .479 percent from three. Senior guard Erin Barrette has the most assists (25) on BSU. Freshman guard Aubrey Heyer leads the beavers in rebounding (4.2 rpg).

COACHING STAFF
Rick Neumann enters his 13th season as the head coach of the UMary women's basketball program. Last season, Neumann passed Fred Fridley for second all-time in program wins this season. Neumann has amassed 183 wins during his UMary tenure.

Haley Froelich enters her first season as the Marauders assistant coach. Froelich served as the assistant coach at Clarke University for the 2023-24 season, where the Pride went 29-3 and made it to the second round of the NAIA tournament.

KINNEBREW NAMED MARAUDERS PLAYER TO WATCH IN 2023-24
The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference has announced that Bergan Kinnebrew is the University of Mary women's basketball Player to Watch. Last season, Kinnebrew led the bench unit in scoring, averaging 5.4 ppg on 42.4% shooting from the field as a true freshman. The Bismarck, ND, native looks to increase her production this season in an expanded role after the departure of Lexie Schneider, Megan Zander and Mariah McKeever.

MARAUDERS PROJECTED TO PLACE NINTH IN NSIC PRESEASON COACHES POLL
The NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll projected the Marauders to finish 9th in the conference this season. Last season, UMary took second and made it to the NSIC championship game for the first time in program history.

WELCOME BACK
The Marauders return two starters from last year's lineup G Ryleigh Wacha and F Addison Rozell both have multiple years of starting experience.

Notable key bench returners include G Bergan Kinnebrew, C Moriku Hakim, G Zoe Velde, G Chloe Pfau and C Cassie Erickson.

Additional returners include C Allison Undlin, G Anna Lenzen and G Emily Jaenke.

NEW
The Marauders add two freshmen guards to their roster Brenna Dick (West Fargo, ND) and Eden Fridley (Bismarck, ND). UMary also added transfer guard Ava Interrante, who spent four seasons at Division I Valparaiso University.
