Head coach Rick Neumann has announced former two-time NAIA All-American Haley Froelich as the new University of Mary women's assistant basketball coach for the 2024-25 season.

“We are extremely excited to welcome Haley to our basketball program.  She brings a wealth of recent experiences, having been a highly decorated player and an award-winning assistant coach,” Neumann said.

Froelich served as the assistant coach at Clarke University for the 2023-24 season, where the Pride went 29-3 and made it to the second round of the NAIA tournament. The Lemmon, SD, native was named a Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Thirty Under 30 honoree for her season coaching the Pride. The WBCA Thirty Under 30 special recognition program was established to honor 30 of the up-and-coming women’s basketball coaches age 30 and under in the sport at all levels of the game.

“It is an amazing feeling to have an opportunity to serve the University of Mary Women’s basketball program. UMary women’s basketball has a legacy of developing winning teams and high-character people. My goal is to be as available as possible to the scholar-athletes and be a resource for them to become successful young women,” Froelich said.

Before joining the Clarke University coaching staff, Froelich spent four years as the assistant coach at Dickinson State University. Froelich previously coached for two years at Mount Marty College as a graduate assistant coach.

“She is a tireless recruiter and in the short time I have known her she has proven herself as someone who lives and breathes serving our scholar-athletes. Haley possesses all the qualities that will continue to help elevate our program toward the top of the NSIC.  I can’t wait to get started working with her,” said Neumann.

As a player, Froelich spent two seasons at Presentation College, where she earned two NAIA All-America honors. She led the NAIA Division II in scoring during the 2015-16 season, averaging 24.9 points per game while shooting 51.4 percent from the field.

Froelich transferred to Northern State University for her senior year. At NSU, she appeared in 26 games and averaged 6.6 points per game and 2.7 rebounds per game.
