Marauders on the road against UMC on Saturday, SCSU on Tuesday

CROOKSTON, MN – The University of Mary women's basketball team is on the road for a pair of Northern Sun matchups beginning with the University of Minnesota Crookston on Saturday, December 14, at 2:00 pm in Crookston, MN.

The Marauders then travel to St. Cloud, MN, to take on St. Cloud State University on Tuesday, December 17, at 5:30 pm.

AFTER THE ACTION

THE RECORD
UMary is 4-3 on the season and 1-2 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.

LAST TIME OUT
The Marauders were dominant over in-state rivals Minot State University, winning 89-69. Chloe Pfau posted a career-high 20 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field and went 4-of-7 from behind the arc.

Bergan Kinnebrew posted 17 points and four assists. Anna Lenzen scored 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds off the bench.

STAT LEADERS
Bergan Kinnebrew leads the team in scoring (16.1 ppg). Kinnebrew ranks 4th in the NSIC in scoring, 1st in free throw percentage (.929) and 20th in minutes played (29.6).

Emily Jaenke is second on the team in scoring (8.3 ppg). She leads the team in three-pointers made (16) and is second in three-point percentage (.486). Jaenke is third in the NSIC in three-pointers made per game (2.4).

Ryleigh Wacha leads UMary in rebounding (5.3 rpg) and is first on the team in three-point percentage (.529). She ranks 25th in the NSIC in rebounding, 25th in three-pointers made per game (1.3) and 24th in steals per game (1.3).

Addison Rozell has recorded the most blocks on the team, with ten. Rozell is 6th in the NSIC in blocks per game (1.4).

Eden Fridley has the most steals on UMary with 13 and is tied for first in assists (20). She is tied for 4th in the NSIC in steals per game (1.9) and tied for 10th in assists per game (2.9).

Ava Interrante is tied for the lead in assists on the Marauders with 20. Interrante ranks in a tie for 10th in the NSIC in assists per game (3.2).

OPPO RESEARCH – UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA CROOKSTON
UMC is 4-5 overall and 2-1 in the NSIC. Junior guard Emma Miller leads the team in scoring (22.8 ppg) and is second in the Northern Sun in scoring. Senior forward Nicole Hernandez leads the Golden Eagles in rebounding (7.2 rpg) and leads the conference in blocked shots (3.2 bpg). Sophomore guard Riley Jenkins leads UMC in assists (26) and is second on the team in scoring (12.7 ppg) and rebounding (7.0 rpg).

OPPO RESEARCH – ST. CLOUD STATE UNIVERSITY
SCSU is 5-2 overall and 2-0 in the Northern Sun. Junior guard Jada Eggebrecht leads the Huskies in scoring, averaging 15.1 ppg. Sophomore forward Abigail O'Reilly leads the team in rebounding (7.0 rpg) and is second in scoring (10.1 ppg). Junior guard Alyssa Stamer leads SCSU in assists, averaging 4.1 assists per game.

COACHING STAFF
Rick Neumann enters his 13th season as the head coach of the UMary women's basketball program. Last season, Neumann passed Fred Fridley for second all-time in program wins this season. Neumann has amassed 183 wins during his UMary tenure.

Haley Froelich enters her first season as the Marauders assistant coach. Froelich served as the assistant coach at Clarke University for the 2023-24 season, where the Pride went 29-3 and made it to the second round of the NAIA tournament.

KINNEBREW NAMED MARAUDERS PLAYER TO WATCH IN 2023-24
The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference has announced that Bergan Kinnebrew is the University of Mary women's basketball Player to Watch. Last season, Kinnebrew led the bench unit in scoring, averaging 5.4 ppg on 42.4% shooting from the field as a true freshman. The Bismarck, ND, native looks to increase her production this season in an expanded role after the departure of Lexie Schneider, Megan Zander and Mariah McKeever.

MARAUDERS PROJECTED TO PLACE NINTH IN NSIC PRESEASON COACHES POLL
The NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll projected the Marauders to finish 9th in the conference this season. Last season, UMary took second and made it to the NSIC championship game for the first time in program history.

WELCOME BACK
The Marauders return two starters from last year's lineup G Ryleigh Wacha and F Addison Rozell both have multiple years of starting experience.

Notable key bench returners include G Bergan Kinnebrew, C Moriku Hakim, G Zoe Velde, G Chloe Pfau and C Cassie Erickson.

Additional returners include C Allison Undlin, G Anna Lenzen and G Emily Jaenke.

NEW
The Marauders add two freshmen guards to their roster Brenna Dick (West Fargo, ND) and Eden Fridley (Bismarck, ND). UMary also added transfer guard Ava Interrante, who spent four seasons at Division I Valparaiso University.
