SACRAMENTO, CA – The final race of the season for nationally 17
th-ranked University of Mary women's cross country is one day away as the Marauders will take part in the NCAA National Championship for the 12
th time in program history. The 6k women's race will be held at the Arcade Creek Cross Country Course in Sacramento, CA, with a start time of 1:15pm.
The following eight athletes made the trip to California, seven of which will be participating in the race:
Alyssa Becker,
Andrijana Fundak,
Kristine Kalthoff, Grace and
Elizabeth Acheson,
Hannah Westin,
Terez Wycklendt, and
Rachael Neu.
Becker is going to nationals for the fourth time in her collegiate career. Kalthoff is going for her third time. Fundak, Wycklendt,
Elizabeth Acheson, and Westin are making their second trips.
Weather will be playing a factor in the championship, as there has been steady rain in California that has
left the course in rough shape. Tomorrow's forecast is calling for more rain throughout the morning that will potentially die out by the women's race.

LAST TIME OUT
The Marauders impressed at the NCAA Central Region Championship on Nov. 9 with a third-place team finish out of 31 schools behind
Alyssa Becker's individual victory. Becker, Kalthoff, and Fundak all earned All-Region recognition with top-20 finishes. Becker became the fourth Marauder in program history to win the regional race.
LOOKING BACK
Last year's NCAA National Championship took place in Joplin, MO, and UMary earned its 11
th top-20 finish in program history with a 19
th-place mark. Becker was the team's top finisher in 66
th followed closely by Fundak in 76
th.
ALYSSA'S ACCOLADES
It's been a phenomenal senior season for
Alyssa Becker, who has four individual victories this season. Becker won the Roy Griak Invitational, the Marauders Open, the NSIC Championship, and the NCAA Central Region Championship.
She has been named the NSIC's Athlete of the Week three times this season, the NSIC's Outstanding Senior in women's cross country, and the USTFCCCA Central Region Athlete of the Year.
