LOCKWOOD, MT – Making their outdoor season debut, the University of Mary men's track & field team posted several strong performances, led by a pair of event wins by
Jorgen Paulson at the Yellowjackets/Battlin' Bears Open in Lockwood, MT.
Paulson came through with a big win in the 100 meter dash, winning the race by .10 seconds with a clocking of 10.87 seconds.
The sophomore also claimed victory in the long jump with a top effort of 6.98 meters. He set a personal best in both victories.
The Marauders had several other top five finishes.
In the 400 meter hurdles.
Akil Howell placed second in the event as he finished in 56.81 seconds.
Dawson Strom finished third in the 1500 meter run, completing the race in 4:04.70. His effort was a career-best clocking in the event.
Joseph Eberle placed third in the 400 with a time of 51.51 seconds.
Kaden Selle (16.56 seconds) and Jesse Kujan (16.68 seconds) finished 3
rd and 4
th, respectively.
In his first collegiate meet, freshman
Cameron Brusven took 3
rd in the javelin with a top effort of 53.92 meters.
Tanner Schiller claimed fourth in the 800 in 1:58.83.
Logan Wentz grabbed 4
th in the long jump with a top mark of 6.41 meters in his fourth attempts of the day. He also placed 5
th in the triple jump at 12.78 meters.
Dillan Kovash also had two top-5 finishes. The senior was fourth in the pole vault (4.10 meters) and 5
th in the javelin (53.34 meters).
Logan Barnes placed 5
th in the high jump after clearing the bar at 1.82 meters.
The Marauders finished fourth in the team standings with 100 points.
UMary next competes at the University of South Dakota Early Bird meet on April 7-8 in Vermillion, SD.
