BURNSVILLE, MN – After winning her tenth conference championship last weekend in record-setting performance,
D'Andra Morris solidified her legacy as one of the greatest competitors in the history of the Northern Sun. For her accomplishments the University of Mary senior was named the 2022 NSIC Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year.
This is the second straight year Morris was honored as the NSIC Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year. She was also the NSIC Indoor Field Athlete of the Year in 2020.
Morris set a new conference record to win the triple jump with a mark of 12.85 meters, the lone UMary event title of the 2022 NSIC outdoor championships last weekend. After fouling on her first attempt on Saturday, the Kingston, Jamaica, native set the conference record on her second effort. Morris dominated the field as the second-place distance was 11.96 meters. All four of Morris' countable marks exceeded 12 meters.
The previous record was 12.60 meters by UMary's Danylle Kurywchak in 2015. Morris also owns the NSIC indoor triple jump record.
She also placed 5
th in both the high jump and the long jump at the outdoor championships and earned the Marauders 17.5 team points.
The 2022 USTFCCCA Central Region Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Year, Morris owns four NSIC outdoor titles (winning the triple jump three times and the high jump once) and six indoor titles (four in the triple jump and two in the high jump).
The six-time All-American and the 2022 NCAA Division II indoor triple jump champion wraps up her collegiate career at the NCAA Division II outdoor championships on May 26-28 in Allendale, MI, where she will compete in both the triple jump and the long jump.
