Imprssive performances by Hestekin, Acheson, Genet lead Marauders weekend efforts

ABERDEEN, SD, AND EUGENE, OR – Back in action after a week off imposed by spring storms, the University of Mary women's outdoor track & field team showed no ill effects of the down time. Taylor Hestekin and Elizabeth Acheson had exceptional performances while competing against some of the nation's best at the Oregon Relays. Antonia Genet keyed a limited Marauders effort at the Dewey Donat Classic due to high winds.

Hosted by NCAA Division I University of Oregon, Hestekin captured her heat of the 1500 meter run on Friday in Eugene, OR. The senior All-American posted an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 4:30.13. Reid Shiland just missed the NCAA qualifying mark with her time of 4:32.90 as she claimed third. Taryn Ceglowski was right behind in fifth with a clocking of 4:33.80 in a field consisting of NCAA D1 runners.

Acheson raced Saturday in the 800. In a section comprised of NCAA D1 student-athletes, the All-American placed second in an NCAA qualifying effort of 2:09.12. Overall she was 6th in a field that also featured professional runners.

Hestekin just missed an NCAA qualifying mark with her finish of 2:12.64, placing first in the senior's section. Ceglowski was second (2:14.18) and Shiland fourth (2:16.83).

Genet won the high jump at the Dewey Donat Classic with a career-best effort of 1.70 meters. Needing just two chances to clear the bar at that height, she registered the Marauders only NCAA qualifying mark of the day and ranks 22nd in the nation.

Grace Conzemius posted a top effort of 1.55 meters to place sixth in the high jump.

On a day with high winds ripping through the Aberdeen, SD, area, Arianna Passeri claimed second in the 100 meter dash (12.02 seconds). She added a third place effort in the long jump (5.53 meters).

Cali Modglin was right behind Passeri in the long jump, finishing four with a distance of 5.34 meters.

Megan Hertz claimed seventh in the 100 (12.43 seconds).

Laura Inama rolled up 3,861 points in the heptathlon to finish seventh.
