WAYNE, NE – Producing her best effort of the year at the start of championship season, University of Mary All-American
Alyssa Becker finished second at the Northern Sun women's cross country championships.
The Marauders top finisher all season, Becker improved four slots over her 2021 conference finish to earn 1
st team All-Northern Sun honors for a second straight season.
Racing at the Wayne Country Club, Becker traversed the 6000 meter trail in a scant 21:26.60. She held off Winona State's McKenna Taylor by 3.55 seconds to claim the runner up spot. Taylor had edged Becker in their previous matchup this season at the Griak Invite.
Winona State's Lindsay Cunningham won the individual title in a time of 20:22.80.
Andrijana Fundak also earned all-conference honors. The sophomore placed 18
th overall with a stellar time of 22:46.9 to claim second team All-NSIC recognition.
UMary finished with six runners in the top 36 and seven in the top 42.
Kristine Kalthoff claimed 29
th with a clocking of 23:27.29.
Ellen Moore placed 32
nd in 23:32.44.
Victoria Noland (23:49.42) rounded out the scoring for the Marauders with a 35
th place finish.
Kiran Green (23:50.54) crossed the line 36
th overall and
Teresa Blote (24:09.95) was 42
nd.
The Marauders finished 5
th overall with 107 points in the 16 team meet. Augustana won the title with 56 points, followed by Minnesota State (68), Winona State (73), Minnesota Duluth (78), UMary, Sioux Falls (146), St. Cloud State (238), Northern State (257), Bemidji State (288), Minot State (318), MSU Moorhead (318), Wayne State (370), Southwest Minnesota State (390), Upper Iowa (393), Concordia-St. Paul (400) and Minnesota Crookston (441).
UMary next competes at the NCAA Central Regional meet on Saturday, November 19, in Joplin, MO.
