JOPLIN, MO – Another amazing race by
Alyssa Becker earned the University of Mary all-region honors for a second straight season. The Marauders top performer placed 10
th overall at the NCAA Central Region championships.
UMary finished 11
th overall in the 35 team meet that featured 229 competitors.
Becker again showed that she is one of the top runners in the nation. The sophomore from Seabeck, WA, covered the 6000 meter Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course in 20:37.5 to again lead the Marauders team efforts.
A 2021 cross country All-American, Becker did not earn an automatic berth to the NCAA championships. She will be in the running to earn one of ten at-large bids to nationals that will be awarded in the upcoming week.
Andrijana Fundak continued her strong season by placing 35
th overall. She traversed the course in 21:37.3. Consistent throughout, Fundak was 44
th after the first 3000 meters before passing nine competitors.
Kiran Green claimed 66
th with a clocking of 22:18.3 after a strong finish. She moved up 29 slots from the midpoint of the race.
Kristine Kalthoff finished the course in 22:43.5. Rounding out the team scoring for UMary was
Victoria Noland who placed 98
th in 22:47.7.
Augustana won the meet with a team score of 62. Pittsburg State was second at 120. Among Northern Sun teams, UMary finished 6
th with 297 points.
The national championship is slated for December 3 in Seattle, WA.
