BISMARCK, ND –
Calvin James hit two of the University of Mary's five home runs on the day and the Marauders overcame deficits in both contest to complete a weekend sweep of the University of Sioux Falls. After opening with a win over the Cougars on Friday, the Marauders posted 8-6 and 8-4 victories on Saturday.
The Marauders improve to 8-7 on the season overall and 6-4 in the Northern Sun. The Cougars are 7-10 and 3-10.

For the second straight game, the University of Mary rallied for a win over the University of Sioux Falls in the Marauders final at bat of the game. The contest featured four lead changes in seven innings before
Paxton Miller solidified the Marauders win with a perfect 7
th inning for his second straight save.
PIVOT POINT
Down 6-5 after the Cougars pushed across a run in the top of the sixth inning, the Marauders picked up three runs in the bottom of the sixth to claim the win. After singles by
Riley Schlimm and
Braeton Wixo to lead off the inning, Schlimm scored on a throwing error on a sacrifice bunt by
Tyrus Barclay to tie the game. Back-to-back sacrifice flies by
Braxton Inniss and
Derek Shoen scored Wixo and Barclay, respectively. Miller then set down the Cougars in order to finish the win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Calvin James was 2-for-4 with a double and a home run
- A day after hitting the game-winning grand slam, Riley Schlimm was 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored
- Tyrus Barclay was 1-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBIs

- Jayden Smith earned his first win of the season when he entered the game in the sixth inning with two outs and the bases loaded. He proceeded to strike out the only batter he needed to face on five pitches.

UMary took advantage of four USF errors to score three unearned runs. The Marauders didn't commit an error.

The Marauders blasted three home runs – including back-to-back blasts by
Quentin Evers and
Dakota Finley in the third inning – and ground out an 8-4 win over the Cougars to complete a three-game weekend sweep. The Marauders scored single runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings to pull away.
PIVOT POINT
With the Marauders in danger of losing their advantage,
Brandon Gill entered the sixth inning with the bases loaded, one out and the Marauders leading 5-3, Gill walked the first batter he faced to force home a run. Gill then fell behind the next hitter 3-0 before throwing a strike. Tyler Cate then fouled off five straight pitches to stay alive before Gill caught him looking for strike three. Gill then induced a popup on the infield to close out the inning and maintaining the Marauders lead. He pitched two more scoreless innings.
