LAST WEEK
The Marauders split four games on the road in the last week, starting with a non-conference doubleheader at Minnesota Duluth on Sunday and at Minot State on Wednesday.

DO I KNOW YOU?
After the Marauders series at Minnesota Crookston and the Bulldogs home games against St. Cloud State were cancelled due to COVID-19 testing protocols by the opponents, UMary went to Duluth, MN, to play a double header on April 18. The teams split a non-conference doubleheader with UMary falling 5-1 in the opener before rebounding for a 14-1 win in game two. The two teams now play their conference games this weekend in Bismarck.

6-0
Jonathon Draheim is a perfect 6-0 this season as the sophomore righthander has won all his starts. His six wins is a UMary NCAA-era (2007 and on) record for wins in a season. The previous record was five by Matt Medeiros (2010) and Jeff Skadeland (2013)… The school record for single season wins is 10 by Marauders Hall of Famer Ryan Astle in 2002.

DRAHEIM BY THE NUMBERS
Jonathan Draheim is 6-0 with a 2.70 ERA and 0.90 WHIP in 40 innings. In six starts he has allowed just 33 hits and 3 walks while striking out 28 hitters… He is two innings shy of six complete games… In NCAA D2 he ranks 4th in complete games (4), 5th in walks/9 innings (0.68), 15th in wins (6) and 18th in strikeouts-to-walks ratio (9.33)… Draheim's no-hit effort against Upper Iowa (4-0 win, 7 IP, 5Ks, 2 HBP, 0 BB, pitched six straight perfect innings to close game) was the fourth in school history (Roger Wuertz vs. Graceland College in 1998, Michael Allen vs. Minnesota-Crookston in 2007 and Shane Trattles vs. Penn State-Beaver in 2014)… he retired the first 16 batters he faced in his season-opener at Southwest Baptist and retired 19 straight hitters in his no-hitter against Upper Iowa in his no-hitter.

POWER BALL
  • Through 26 games the Marauders have 26 home runs, already the 5th most in the team's NCAA years. UMary is on pace to exceed the 37 the Marauders hit in 2008.
•             Ty Jones and Calvin James have both had two-homer games this season for the Marauders to tie the Marauders single-game NCAA-era school record. This has happened just 12 times since 2007. James accounts for two of the occurrences.
•             The Marauders blasted four solo shots in the 5-3 win at Concordia-St. Paul. The four home runs are the second-most the Marauders have hit in a game since beginning NCAA play in 2007, bested only by the six UMary hit against Upper Iowa on April 28, 2007.

The former NJCAA All-American, NCAA Division I transfer and Northwoods League player posted a 905 OPS in limited play last season for UMary. The Enderlin, ND, native also was a 2-time all-region player at Bismarck State College and is the Marauders NSIC Player to Watch… Newcomer Austin Wagner is UMary's Pitcher to Watch. The lefthander is a transfer from NCAA Division I Abilene Christian, where he was the Wildcats top starter. Wagner ranked 6th in the nation in strikeout—to-walk ratio (22-to-1) and was among the Southland Conference leaders in WHIP (0.81) and ERA (1.96). the Wisconsin native led his hometown Fond du Lac Dock Spiders to the 2018 Northwoods League title… Wagner headlines a deep pitching staff for the Marauders. Sophomores Daniel Turner and Jonathan Draheim enter their third year in the starting rotation. Turner was 2-1 with a 0.91 WHIP last year, including a win over national power Central Missouri... Outfielder Ty Jones and infielder Derek Shoen, in his first year at UMary, will both see double duty in the field and on the mound… Paxton Miller and Andrew Brooks gained valuable experience with the Bismarck Larks in the Northwoods League last summer and key a bullpen that will also feature Shaun Hickey, Liam Sommer, Jayden Smith, Mitch Oehme, Anthony Leedle, Kody Jones and more… Third baseman Cal James made an immediate impact with the bat last year as a true freshman. OF Braxton Inniss, a transfer from NCAA D1 Northern Colorado, and C Tyrus Barclay, a grad transfer from Emporia State, will play key roles.
