BOLIVAR, MO – A dominant compete game effort by
Jonathan Draheim and a pair of clutch hits from
Dakota Finley carried the visiting University of Mary baseball team to a doubleheader split against the Southwest Baptist University. The Marauders won the opener 3-1 before the Bearcats rallied from behind to win the nightcap 6-3.

In his first outing of the season,
Jonathan Draheim retired 16 straight Bearcats to start the game and held Southwest Baptist to a single run in a 7-inning compete game. The sophomore righthander allowed just four hits and no walks in the game while striking out five batters.
PIVOT POINT
Dakota Finley drove home the first two runs of the game for the Marauders. After doubling down the left field line to score
Braxton Inniss in the first inning, Finley followed up by ripping a single off the SBU third baseman's glove in the third to score
Calvin James and increase UMary's lead to 2-0. A bases loaded walk to
James Martin soon followed to score
Spencer Gillund for the Marauders second run of the inning and third of the game.

Jonathan Draheim retired 16 straight hitters to open the game… he picked up eight outs on ground balls and eight outs on ground balls. The other five outs came on strikeouts… three of the four hits he allowed came in the sixth inning.
GAME 2 Southwest Baptist 6 UMary 3
Daniel Turner gave the Marauders their second strong starting pitching performance of the day and third straight this season but a four-run seventh inning outburst by the Bearcats carried SBU past UMary 6-3. Turner limited the Bearcats to two runs on three hits and three walks in 5.2 innings of work in his first appearance of the year. He struck out three and hit a batter.
PIVOT POINT
Down 3-1, the Bearcats posted a single run in the sixth to pull within 3-2 before crossing the plate four times in the seventh, all with two outs. After scoring on an infield single and a base hit to take a 4-3 lead, a defensive miscue by the Marauders allowed two more runs to score, both unearned.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Leadoff hitter Braxton Inniss was 1-for-3 with a walk and scored twice
- Derek Shoen went 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI
- Calvin James drove in two runs and finished 2-for-4 with a stolen base
- Andrew Brooks pitched 1.1 innings of scoreless, hitless relief, striking out three and walking one
