BOLIVAR, MO –
Braxton Inniss and
James Martin both posted three hits in the final doubleheader of the University of Mary baseball team's opening week. Despite posting more hits on the day than homestanding Southwest Baptist University, the Marauders were swept by the Bearcats 8-1 and 13-2.
The Marauders finish their five-game road swing 2-3 after opening the season with two straight wins.

The Marauders opened the scoring with a single run in the top of the first inning when a
Dakota Finley sacrifice fly to center field scored
Braxton Inniss with what proved to be the Marauders lone run of the game. The Bearcats posted two runs in the second and third before registering three runs in the fourth.

The Marauders has Bearcats starting pitcher Dalton Morrow on the ropes in the first inning. Innis led off with a single and was sent to third on a one-out double by
Calvin James. A walk to
Spencer Gillund loaded the bases but UMary could only push one run across on a Finley sacrifice fly.

GAME 2 Southwest Baptist 13 UMary 2
James Martin and
Dakota Finley combined for five the Marauders seven hits in the fourth and final game between UMary and Southwest Baptist. The potent pair combined for more hits than the complete Bearcats lineup as SBU scratched out four hits in the game. The Bearcats made up for a dearth of hits by accepting 18 walks with one other batter reaching on a hit by pitch.
PIVOT POINT
After the Marauders closed their deficit to 4-1 in the top of the sixth inning, the Bearcats scored six runs in the bottom of the inning on five walks and a base hit to build an insurmountable 10-1 lead.
