FARGO, ND - Tasha Dembo earned the Marauders only point as the University of Mary tennis team was defeated by Winona State University 6-1.  

"We played well but they were tough and came up with the critical points," UMary head coach Vida Saliendra said. 

The Marauders won one of the three doubles matches as Winona State earned the one team point. Tasha Dembo and Yusra Hegy were victorious in number one doubles 6-2. Kelsey Lajom and Jamie Stoppler lost number two doubles 6-7, losing the tiebreaker 10-12. Heidi Jacobson and Kali Askvig finished out doubles play losing 2-6. 

Tasha Dembo was victorious over Beth Murman, winning 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 in number one singles. 

Yusra Hegy lost a close match in number two singles to Rachel Kelly 4-6, 5-7. 

Jaime Stoppler lost a tight contest as she fell to Marina Niechoff 6-7, 5-7 in number three singles. 

In number four singles Kelsey Lajom lost another close match as she was defeated by Audrey Delich 6-7, 6-3, 0-1 (7-10 in super tiebreaker). 

Kali Askvig lost to Brooke Jorgensen 5-7, 3-6 in number five singles. 

Heidi Jacobson closed things out for the Marauders and was defeated 2-6, 0-6 in number six singles.  

The Marauders next match will be on Saturday, February 27, at 4:30 pm against St. Cloud State University in Duluth, MN.
