Askvig Named D2CCA First Team All-Central Region.

WEATHERFORD, Okla –The D2CCA announced Thursday that the University of Mary junior forward Cassie Askvig has been named D2CCA First Team All-Central Region.
 
The Marauders 6-2 forward averaged 18 points per game and hauled down 9.3 rebounds per game while recording 2.3 assists/game and shooting 50.2 percent from the field and 46.4 percent from deep. She has nine double-doubles this season and has reached double figures in points in 22 of 24 games. The UMary forward ranks second in the NSIC in scoring, fourth in field goal percentage, fifth in free throw percentage, and sixth in rebounding.
 
After three seasons Askvig has 1,085 points and 615 rebounds. She now ranks 17th all time in scoring and 11th in rebounding for UMary.
 
Askvig becomes the first UMary women's basketball player to receive D2CCA First Team All-Central Region. Brittney Dietz is the only other Marauders athlete to be recognized by the D2CCA, receiving All-Central Region second team honors in 2016.
 
The Minot, ND native became the Marauders first basketball player to receive NSIC player of the year, earning First Team All-Conference honors in the process. 
 
Sports Information Directors from NCAA Division II Central Region schools and conferences selected the D2CCA all-region teams. The process concludes with All-American selections announced later this month.
