The University of Mary women's basketball opens up postseason play in the McDowell Activity Center this week. The Marauders will host Wayne State College on Wednesday, February 27 at 6 PM in the McDowell Activity Center for the first round of the NSIC playoffs.Â

ROAD AHEAD
The winner of the Marauders-Wildcats contest advances to the NSIC/Sanford tournament quarterfinals on Saturday, March 2, at the Pentagon in Sioux Falls, SD against the winner of the Sioux Falls / Minnesota Crookston game. The semifinals are Monday, March 4, with the championship game set for Tuesday, March 5.Â

LAST TIME OUT
The last time the Marauders took was for a weekend split. UMary kicked off the weekend with a dominant 69-55 win over the Northern State Wolves. The game was tight until the fourth quarter when UMary blew the game open and clinched the win.
Gabbie Bohl led the way for the Marauders with 19 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, three blocks, and two steals.
Cassie Askvig added 13 points with
Macy Williams pitching in 11. The Marauders then welcomed the conferences top team, MSU Moorhead to town. The Marauders found themselves in a big hole but slowly climbed their way out, tying the ball game up in the fourth thanks to a big third quarter. The Dragons were able to finish strong and take the victory 63-58.
Gabbie Bohl had a big double-double with 24 points and 11 rebounds.
Cassie Askvig also had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Macy Williams pitched in 10 points and five assists.Â

Wayne State comes into the game against UMary with a 14-14 record going 9-13 in the NSIC. The Wildcats are 3-9 on the road so far this season. WSC has lost seven of their last eight games. Three Wildcats are averaging double-digit points on the season. Erin Norling leads the team with 15.1 PPG. Brittany Bongartz averages 12.6 PPG and a team high of six rebounds per game. Halley Busse rounds out the field of Wildcats averaging double figures with 11.8 PPG.

The Marauders took down the Wildcats 65-60 earlier this season. The Marauders dominated the first quarter, recording 24 points and outscoring WSC by 11. The Wildcats worked their way back into the ball game but UMary finished the game out strong to clinch the win.
Cassie Askvig carried the Marauders through the game with her career night. The junior recorded career highs in both points and rebounds. She scored 34 points and had 20 rebounds in the Marauders win.Â

Tickets will also be sold prior to the game on Wednesday when gates open at 5 pm, an hour before game time. Ticket prices, as set by the NSIC, are $10 for adults and $2 for students. The first 200 UMary students will be admitted to the game free with their M-card. Please note this is an NSIC postseason contest and not part of any Marauders season ticket package.

Two Marauders have joined the list of just 19 UMary women's basketball players to score 1,000 career points this season. Gabbie Bohl became the 18th player to reach the milestone andÂ
Cassie Askvig became the 19th. Both players reached their 1,000th career point by knocking down a free throw to convert on a three point play. Bohl scored her 1,000th career point during the first game of her junior year and Askvig during the 19th game of her junior year.Â

Cassie Askvig became the 18th and 19th Marauders to score their 1,000th career point. Bohl reached the milestone just one game into her junior year. Askvig hit the milestone 19 games into her junior year. Bohl has since moved into 8th on the all time rankings with a total of 1,431 career points. She recently passed Andrea Ronderos (2003-06). Bohl will be tracking down Sarah Leer who scored 1,618 career points. The junior forward has moved into 10th all time in career rebounds with 624.Â
Cassie Askvig joins Bohl in the top 15 all time in career rebounds ranking 11th with 605. Askvig also moves into 17th all time in points scored with 1,079.

NSIC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Gabbie Bohl andÂ
Cassie Askvig (x2) both have won NSIC Player of the Week this season. Bohl won the award for her 28.5 PPG and 13.5 RPG performance over a two game stretch. Askvig was given the award for her 18.5 PPG and 15.5 RPG performance over the past weekend. Askvig earned the award for a second time when she averaged 25 PPG and 17.5 RPG while recording career highs of 34 points and 20 rebounds against WSC.Â

Gabbie Bohl who was named NSIC freshman of the year her freshman year, first team All-NSIC her sophomore year, and is the NSIC north preseason player of the year this season.Â

LIVING UP TO EXPECTATIONS
Big expectations surroundÂ
Gabbie Bohl coming into this season. The junior was named the NSIC North Preseason Player of the Year and has shown exactly why she received that honor so far this season. Bohl is averaging 18.1 PPG, 9.4 RPG, and 1.4 BPG. She was named the NSIC player of the week for her performance the weekend of December 7-8. She was named to the WWU Lynda Goodrich Classic All-Tournament Team for her performance in the teams two games in Washington. Bohl recorded her 1,000 career point in her first game of her senior year when she got a bucket and drew the foul. She would convert on the three point play to give herself 1,000 career points.
