Bergan Kinnebrew broke the University of Mary women's basketball team's single-season scoring record as the Marauders fell 80-56 to #3 Minnesota State University, Mankato, in the semifinals of the NSIC tournament.
UMary (23-10, 15-7 NSIC) finishes the conference season with 23 wins, the most wins in program history in the NCAA era. The Marauder had reached 22 wins twice before in the 2023-24 and 2019-20 seasons.
Bergan Kinnebrew scored 13 points to score 693 points and break the single-season scoring record set by Cassie Asvig (692) back in 2019-20. Kinnebrew finished the game with nine rebounds, five steals, five assists, and four blocks.
Anna Lenzen recorded 13 points, three rebounds, two blocks, and two steals.
Eden Fridley has 11 points and three rebounds.
Chloe Pfau had eight points, two blocks, and two steals.
Emily Jaenke came off the bench and knocked down two treys to score six points.
In what may be her final game as a Marauder,
Cassie Erickson posted three points, two rebounds, and one block.
Allison Undlin contributed five blocks and four rebounds. Undlin amassed 69 blocks on the season, which ranks third for most blocks in a single season.
The Marauders trailed by as many as nine points in the first quarter but rallied back to end the quarter trailing the Mavericks 22-20. UMary continued to battle hard in the second quarter against the #3 team in the country and would go into halftime with a 34-30 deficit.
MSU began to take control in the third quarter, outscoring UMary 18-12 to take a 54-44 lead. The Marauders ran out of gas in the fourth quarter as the Mavericks would dominate the quarter and win 80-56.
UMary shot 21-of-49 (42.9%) from the field and 7-of-20 (35%) from three, while MSU went 32-of-86 (37.2%) from the floor and 5-of-14 (35.3%) from behind the arc. The Marauders shot 7-of-11 (63.6%) from the free-throw line, while the Mavericks went 11-of-15 (73.3%) from the charity stripe. UMary was outrebounded 50-36 by MSU. The Marauders struggled with turnovers, recording 34, while MSU had 12 giveaways.
