BURNSVILLE, MN – Leading the University of Mary to two big conference wins this weekend has earned
Cassie Askvig Northern Sun North Division Player of the Week honors!
Askvig averaged 18.5 PPG and 15.5 RPG over the weekend.
The junior sparked the University of Mary to a big conference win over Concordia, St. Paul with her massive double-double of 18 points and 17 rebounds. She would shoot 50 percent from the field during the game against CSP.
Askvig followed that up with an equally impressive double-double against Minnesota State - Mankato to lead UMary to another big win. The Minot, ND native posted 19 points and 14 rebounds against MSU.
Cassie Askvig didn't just score, she did it efficiently. She knocked down 80 percent of her free throw attempts and 60 percent of her shots from three.
She is averaging a near double-double on the season with 17.6 PPG and 9.8 RPG.
After her big weekend, Askvig moved into 29th in career points at UMary and 20th in career rebounds.
The Marauders boast a 9-2 overall record while going 7-1 in NSIC play.
UMary continues to impress many as the Marauders move into 8th in the D2SIDA Central Region poll.
A four game road trip is on the docket for the Marauders. The team will travel to Minnesota Duluth and St. Cloud State next weekend. The Marauders will take on UMD on Friday, January 11 at 5:30 PM followed by a game on Saturday, January 12 at 3:30 PM against SCSU.
