The University of Mary women's basketball team hosts two of the NSIC's top tier teams in this weekends home games. The Marauders will take on Wayne State College on Friday, February 1 at 5:30 PM. They will follow that up with a game against Augustana on Saturday, February 2 at 3:30 PM. Â

LAST TIME OUT
The last time UMary took to the court was for two home games. UMary split the two games over the weekend, winning the first and losing the second. UMary took down Minnesota Crookston on Friday to earn head coach
Rick Neumann his 100th career win. The Marauders beat UMC by a score of 82-71. Bohl, Askvig, and Williams all recorded 19 points each. Bohl led the team with 10 rebounds and Williams led the team with eight assists. Bemidji State ended the Marauders undefeated home record with a 77-66 win over UMary. Askvig and Bohl each added 15 points.

The Marauders are 11-6 overall and 9-5 in NSIC play.

OPPO RESEARCH – WAYNE STATE
The Wildcats come into the game against UMary with a 13-7 record. WSC has struggled on the road so far this season going 3-5 when they are not on the comfort of their home court. Three Wildcats average double digit points this season. Erin Norling leads all Wildcats with 15.2 PPG. Brittany Bongartz averages 12.7 and Halley Busse pitches in 11.9 PPG. WSC ranks third in the conference in offensive rebounds pulling down 12.6 per game. The Wildcats also rank third in the conference in blocked shots and assists.

Dating back to 2006 when UMary joined the Northern Sun, the Marauders have lost 15 out of the 20 meetings with the Wildcats… WSC has won the last six meetings with the Mary... The Marauders last win came in 2013 when the Blue & Orange won in Wayne, NE, 57-54.

The last time the Marauders and Wildcats met, the Wildcats held the advantage taking down the Marauders by a score of 75-68.

Augustana comes into the game against the Marauders with an 18-5 record. Augie ranks in a tie for 10th in the most recent regional poll. The Vikings are dominant at home posting a 10-1 record with a 4-3 road record. Four Vikings players average double figure points. Shelby Selland averages 15.3 PPG and 8.8 RPG to lead all Vikings in both categories. Lynsey Prosser averages 12.3 PPG, Vishe' Rabb puts up 11.9 PPG, and Abby Hora adds 11.3 PPG. The Vikings lead the conference in scoring, averaging 78.1 PPG. It's not just their offense that gets the job done, their defense holds opposing offenses to the lowest field goal percentage in the conference (36.6).

The Marauders are 3-14 against the Vikings… Mary won the first two meetings in the NCAA era but AU has had the Marauders number, winning 13 out of the last 14 meet ups.

Bohl ranks fourth with a field goal percentage of 51.7 percent. Askvig sits right in front of her in third with a field goal percentage of 52.2 percent. The Marauders ranks 19th in the nation if field goal percentage offense! Bohl ranks 25th in the nation individually in scoring.

Gabbie Bohl who was named NSIC freshman of the year her freshman year, first team All-NSIC her sophomore year, and is the NSIC north preseason player of the year this season.Â

LIVING UP TO EXPECTATIONS
Big expectations surroundÂ
Gabbie Bohl coming into this season. The junior was named the NSIC North Preseason Player of the Year and has shown exactly why she received that honor so far this season. Bohl is averaging 20.1 PPG, 9.2 RPG, and 1.2 BPG. She was named the NSIC player of the week for her performance the weekend of December 7-8. She was named to the WWU Lynda Goodrich Classic All-Tournament Team for her performance in the teams two games in Washington. Bohl recorded her 1,000 career point in her first game of her senior year when she got a bucket and drew the foul. She would convert on the three point play to give herself 1,000 career points.

CLIMBING THE ALL TIME RANKINGS
Gabbie Bohl became the 18th Marauders to score her 1,000 career point. She reached the milestone just one game into her junior year. She has since moved into 9th on the all time rankings with a total of 1,314 career points. She recently passed Natalie Brunner (2001-05). Bohl will be tracking down Andrea Ronderos (2003-06) who scored 1,407 career points. The junior forward has moved into 13th all time in career rebounds with 552.Â
Cassie Askvig joins Bohl in the top 15 all time in career rebounds ranking tied for 14th with 530. Askvig also moves into 21st all time in points scored with 956.

The UMary women's basketball program is nearing 700 wins. The Marauders need just eight more wins to reach this mark.

Gabbie Bohl andÂ
Cassie Askvig both have won NSIC Player of the Week this season. Bohl won the award for her 28.5 PPG and 13.5 RPG performance over a two game stretch. Askvig was given the award for her 18.5 PPG and 15.5 RPG performance over the past weekend.
