Box Score BURNSVILLE, MN – Hopes of knocking off the dominant force in the Northern Sun ended early for the University of Mary at the 2018 Northern Sun tennis tournament as Augustana, the seven-time defending postseason conference champion, shut out the Marauders 5-0 in the opening round.
The eighth seed, the Marauders were matched against the top-seeded Vikings, who also own nine straight regular-season conference championships and 99 straight regular season NSIC wins, to start the tournament. Despite a strong effort by the Marauders, UMary saw its season end with the loss to Augie.
"Overall we competed hard today," said Marauders head coach
Vida Saliendra. "Our 1 and 2 doubles had close matches. They played their best today but Augie won critical points. Even though our season ended today I was satisfied with our team's play as they stayed focused and went for their shots."

Tasha Dembo dropped an 8-2 decision.
In the closest match of the day, Lucia Bollibruch and
Kelsey Lajom fell 8-5 at #2 doubles.
Needing just two wins in singles play to advance, the Vikings picked up wins at #3 and #6 singles over Lajom and
Shanna Stevenson, respectively. The remaining singles matches went unfinished.
The Marauders, who returned to the conference tournament after finishing short last year, completed the season with a record of 6-10 overall.
