Vida Saliendra

Vida Saliendra took over the University of Mary women’s tennis head coaching position for the 2012-13 and made an immediate impact on the Marauders program. U-Mary qualified for the Northern Sun tournament for the first time since 2008. The squad finished the season 7-7 overall and 6-6 in league play, exceeding the teams’ win total from the previous four seasons combined. Additionally U-Mary student-athletes captured NSIC Player of the Week honors three times and two will earn conference all-academic honors.

Year two was even more impressive. U-Mary finished 14-4 overall and 10-1 in the Northern Sun. The Marauders placed second in both the NSIC recular season and in the post-season tournament and broke into the NCAA regional rankings. Two Marauders earned NSIC player of the week honors. Four Marauders earned all-conference honors. Three claimed NSIC all-academic honors.

After several years coaching at the high school ranks, this was Saliendra’s first foray into the college game. She started as an assistant coach at Logan High School in Logan, UT, from 2000-02 and coached a doubles team to third in state. Saliendra became the girls head coach at Logan from 2002-05 and qualified team members for state play all three seasons.

Following a move to Wisconsin, she was hired as the girls coach at Lakeland Union High School in Minocqua, WI, from 2005-09 and experienced tremendous success, claiming four straight conference championships. During the same period she was an assistant boys coach at Rhinelander High School. Saliendra later was head coach at Loch Raven High School in Towson, MD, in 2010-11, led the team to a winning record and qualified a singles player to the state tournament.

Additionally Saliendra, who holds various certifications in tennis and has volunteered extensively with youth soccer, also has coached as a private instructor.
