Making their first NSIC road trip this season and playing away from home for the first time in nearly a month, the University of Mary women's basketball team visits MSU Moorhead and Northern State on Friday and Saturday, December 14-15. The Marauders first tangle with the Dragons at 5:30 pm on Friday in Moorhead, MN. The weekend wraps up against Northern State on Saturday at 3:30 pm in Aberdeen, SD.

LAST TIME OUT
The last time the Marauders took to the court was to battle two conference foes. UMary posted two impressive wins over St. Cloud State and Minnesota Duluth. The Marauders opened weekend play against SCSU and downed them by a score of 59-47.
Gabbie Bohl went off for a massive double-double with 27 points and 19 rebounds. She added three blocks on the day as well. UMary wrapped up the weekend with an 82-76 victory over UMD. The Marauders led by as much as 21 points during the game. Bohl had another massive game, tying her career high with 30 points.
Cassie Askvig recorded a big double-double with 22 points and 13 rebounds! She added four assists on the day.Â

The Marauders are 5-1 overall and 3-0 in NSIC play.

OPPO RESEARCH – MSU MOORHEAD
The Dragons come into the game against the Marauders with a 7-2 record. MSUM also boasts an undefeated 3-0 record in conference play. The only two losses of the season for the Dragons came against Northern Michigan and Michigan Tech. MSUM has three athletes who are averaging double-digits on the season. Kiley Borowicz leads the way with 13.8 PPG. Megan Hintz averages a double-double with 12.9 PPG and 10.8 RPG. Jacky Volkert averages 10.1 PPG and nearly four assists per game. The Dragons lead the conference in rebounding with 44.2 RPG. They also have a very stout defense allowing a conference best 52.7 PPG.Â

HISTORY LESSON
The Marauders are 8-15 against the Dragons since 2006-07… MSUM has won the last six meetings... The Marauders last win was a 69-64 home victory on Jan. 9, 2015, behind 17 points, 11 rebounds and five assists from Brittney Dietz… UMary is 5-6 against MSUM at the McDowell Activity Center and 3-8 on the road at Alex Nemzek Fieldhouse.

The last time the Marauders took on the Dragons was during January of last season. UMary fell to MSUM by a score of 67-56.
Macy Williams led the way for the Marauders with 14 points. Bohl pitched in 13 points and 5 rebounds while Askvig added 11 points, six boards, four assists, and two blocks.

NSU comes into the game against UMary with a 3-5 record. They are 1-2 in the NSIC. The Wolves have two athletes averaging double figures. Lexi Wadsworth leads the team with 12.1 PPG and Brianna Kusler adds another 11.4 PPG. Kusler also leads the team with 8.8 RPG. Northern State leads the conference in attendance, averaging 2,236 fans per game so the Marauders certainly will have a packed house to play in front of. The Wolves lead the conference in rebounding defense averaging 30.3 RPG.Â

Gabbie Bohl who was named NSIC freshman of the year her freshman year, first team All-NSIC her sophomore year, and is the NSIC north preseason player of the year this season.Â

LIVING UP TO EXPECTATIONS
Big expectations surroundÂ
Gabbie Bohl coming into this season. The junior was named the NSIC North Preseason Player of the Year and has shown exactly why she received that honor so far this season. Bohl is averaging 12.3 PPG, 11.0 RPG, and 1.3 BPG. She was named the NSIC player of the week for her performance the weekend of December 7-8. She was named to the WWU Lynda Goodrich Classic All-Tournament Team for her performance in the teams two games in Washington. Bohl recorded her 1,000 career point in her first game of her senior year when she got a bucket and drew the foul. She would convert on the three point play to give herself 1,000 career points.

CLIMBING THE ALL TIME RANKINGS
Gabbie Bohl became the 18th Marauders to score her 1,000 career point. She reached the milestone just one game into her junior year. She has since moved into 15th on the all time rankings with a total of 1,112 career points. She recently passed Shaunna Knife (2009-13) who scored 1,092 points during her career. Bohl will be tracking down Nicole Meier (2002-06) next, Meier has 1,129 career points. The junior forward has moved into 22nd all time in career rebounds with 454.Â
Cassie Askvig joins Bohl in the top 30 all time in career rebounds ranking 27th with 433. Askvig also moves into 37th all time in points scored with 742.

NEARING MILESTONES

Rick Neumann is nearing the 100 win milestone. He is currently sitting at 94 wins. The UMary women's basketball program is nearing 700 wins. The Marauders need just 14 more wins to reach this mark.Â

SOUND ALL-AROUND
Cassie Askvig has been incredibly well rounded and consistent in nearly every aspect of the game for UMary. The junior is averaging 15.8 PPG, 8.5 RPG and 3.2 APG. Askvig is shooting 50.0 percent from behind the arc and 45.8 percent from the field.

NSIC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Gabbie Bohl was named NSIC North player of the week for her performance the weekend of December 7-8. The junior averaged an NSIC high 28.5 PPG to go with her 13.5 RPG. She recorded a career high of 30 points against UMD. She posted a big double-double with 27 points and 19 boards to go along with three blocks against SCSU. She shot 75 percent from the field against UMD. She knocked down 13-14 free throws against SCSU
