Coming off a weekend road sweep, the University of Mary men's basketball team returns home to host the University of Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles and the Bemidji State University Beavers. The two-game home set tips off against the Golden Eagles on Friday, Jan. 20, at 8 pm. Alumni Day for Marauders basketball is Saturday when the Beavers visit. Game time is 6 pm. Both contests are set for the McDowell Activity Center.
BEK SPORTS TO BROADCAST WEEKEND DOUBLEHEADER
BEK Sports is televising back-to-back days of Marauders basketball this weekend when the University of Minnesota Crookston and Bemidji State University come to visit the McDowell Activity Center. The Friday, Jan. 20 Marauders-Golden Eagles game can be seen throughout western North Dakota on BEK PRIME KNDB/KNDM. The women's game starts at 6 pm with the men's contest to follow at 8 pm. On Saturday, Jan. 21, the Marauders-Beavers doubleheader can be viewed statewide on BEK PRIME (KNDB/KNDM in Western North Dakota and KRDK in Eastern North Dakota), starting with the women's game at 4 pm and the men tipping off at approximately 6 pm. ALUMNI DAY
The annual Marauders basketball Alumni Day is set for Saturday, Jan., 21, when Mary hosts Bemidji State University. Alumni Day tips off with the women's alumni game at 9 am followed by the men's alumni game at 10 am in the McDowell Activity Center. All women's alumni basketball players will be introduced at halftime of the 4 pm Marauders-Beavers women's game. Men's basketball alumni will be recognized at intermission of the Mary-Bemidji State men's basketball game scheduled for 6 pm. Following the men's game, all basketball alumni from both the men's and women's programs are invited to a social at Bruno's Pizza.
THE RECORD
After sweeping last weekend's road doubleheader, the Marauders improved to 7-11 overall and 5-7 against Northern Sun foes. Mary is 9th overall in the NSIC and fourth in the NSIC North.
LAST TIME OUT
The Marauders knocked off Concordia-St. Paul 87-75 before earning a 75-61 win at Minnesota State University, Mary's first win ever at the Taylor Center.
FAST BREAKS
After playing five of their last seven games on the road, the Marauders begin a stretch of playing 6-of-8 contests at home

The Golden Eagles are 6-12 overall and 2-10 in the NSIC (15th place)
UMC has lost three straight games overall and five straight road games
Mary and UMC both played in the SBU Classic at Southwest Baptist to open the season. The Marauders dropped both games and UMC was 1-1 with a win over host SBU. The SBU win is only UMC road win of the season.
A young squad, UMC features just one upperclassman - Jr. F Jim Warmack - in its starting lineup. Two of the top three reserves are freshmen.

LAST MEETING:
Rickey Suggs scored 17 points off the bench to lead the Marauders to an 83-67 road win over the Golden Eagles. Led by a 7-for-10 from Suggs, the Marauders made 55.6 percent of their shots to 36.5 percent for the Golden Eagles. Tied at 42-42, Mary separated from UMC with a 26-10 run.
Bryan Jefferson and
Devan Douglas both scored 11 points for UM. Gable Smith led UMC with 14 points.
BEMIDJI STATE UNIVERSITY BEAVERS HEADLINES
The Beavers are 6-11 overall and 4-8 in the NSIC. BSU is a game behind Mary for 5th in the North and is 11th in the overall standings.
BSU has won three of their last four games, all at home
On the road the Beavers have lost four straight and are 1-5 this season
In their biggest win of the season BSU upset Southwest Minnesota State in Bemidji, MN, last Saturday. The Mustangs were tied for 1st in the NSIC prior to the game.
Head coach Mike Boschee is in his fourth season at BSU and is 60-68. His career head coaching record in 14 seasons is 175-183.
The Beavers have scored at least 50 points in the second half of three of their last six games
Fr. G Jai'Vionne Green leads the Beavers in scoring at 17.6 PPG, second among freshmen in the NSIC behind UMC's Harrison Cleary and 6th overall. Green is 10th in the NSIC in FG% at .497.

Brandon Tyler hit the game-winning 3-pointer with 73 seconds left in the game. Mary closed the game on a 12-2 run. The contest featured 12 lead changes and 11 ties. Jefferson made 14-of-19 shots.

REWIND
The Marauders snapped a six-game losing streak with a weekend sweep at Concordia-St. Paul and Minnesota State University.
Rickey Suggs scored a career-high 19 points in an 87-75 win at CSP. Mary made 8-of-11 3-pointers in the opening half and led 47-49 at intermission. The Golden Bears closed within 60-59 with just under eight minutes to play, prompting a 13-0 Marauders run in response. Mary later scored the last six points of the game after Concordia moved within six. Mary shot 52.5 percent overall for the game and CSP checked in at 51.7.

Pat Thomas 13 for UM. Bryndan Mattthews had 21 for the Golden Eagles... Mary concluded the road trip with a 75-61 win over Minnesota State. It was the Marauders first-ever win over the Mavericks at the Taylor Center. Mary scored first on an

Isaac Lindquist scored 16 for Mary. Henry hit all four trey attempts and added 15 points,

STREAK
Last weekend's wins over Concordia-St. Paul and Minnesota State was the second straight victory by the Marauders over both programs. Mary defeated both schools last spring in the NSIC tournament. Â
FIRST
For the first time Mary defeated Minnesota State on the road at the Taylor Center. The Marauders had lost their first five road games against the Mavericks. Â
RUNNING AHEAD
The Marauders led for over 70 straight minutes of basketball last weekend. After taking a 26-23 lead on a
Trevor Zacher 3-pointer at Concordia-St. Paul with 10:13 left in the first half, the Marauders never again trailed against the Golden Bears. The next night at Minnesota State,
Erron Collins scored the first points of the night on a trey and Mary led the whole way.
DEE FENCE
Mary posted some of its best defensive performances of the season last weekend. In the 87-75 win at Concordia-St. Paul, the Marauders limited the Golden Bears to a 4-for-18 performance behind the arc, a season-best .222 3-point shooting field goal percentage defense. The next night, Mary held Minnesota State to 61 points. It was the fewest points the Marauders have allowed to an NCAA Division II team this season and the fewest points scored by the Mavericks. Additionally Mary held MSU to a field goal percentage of .365, the best defensive percentage against D2 opposition for the Marauders this season. Â

Bryan Jefferson has joined an exclusive club in Marauders history after cracking the 1,000 point and 500 rebound barrier. The 17th Marauder with 1,000 points, only seven Mary players have 500 rebounds. Additionally, the Aurora, IL, native is the 5th player in school history to crack both 1,000 points and 500 rebounds. The others are Roger Klemisch (1,465 points and 782 rebounds), Jerome Nichols (1,366 and 707), Rory Entzi (1,870 and 609) and Eric Erdmann (1,642 and 603).
Jefferson is currently 14th all-time with 1,079 points. Just ahead is Anthony Moody with 1,126 points. Scott Kleinjan is the Marauders all-time scoring leader with 2,268.
Jefferson is 7th all-time in rebounding with 528. Next on the list is Dave Hanson (553). Roger Klemisch is the all-time Marauders rebounding leader with 782.

In a bounceback weekend, Henry was 6-of-8 on treys against CSP and MSU. He posted 16 points and six rebounds against the Golden Bears and went 4-for-4 on 3-pointers and scored 15 points with six boards against the Mavericks.

Rickey Suggs has made a recent move into the starting lineup. In five games as a starter he is averaging 14.6 PPG and 5.2 RPG while shooting 53.6 percent. Playing in his back yard, the Woodbury, MN, native posted a career-high 19 points in the win at Concordia-St. Paul. Suggs is 3rd on the team with 10.4 PPG, second in rebounds at 4.2/game, leads the squad field goal percentage (.531) and fifth in steals with 13.

Erron Collins earned his first carer starts for the Marauders against Northern State and MSU Moorhead. He hit a trey against both the Dragons and the Wolves and has scored in 13 of 18 games this year. He has a trey in five straight games and is 6-of-12 in that stretch.

Feeding off its penchant to steal the ball from its opponents, Mary leads the NSIC in turnover margin. The Marauders are +3.78 per game, committing 10.0 turnovers/game while forcing 13.8. After suffering a -2 in turnover margin in the season opener, the Marauders turned the ball over fewer times than their opponents in eight straight games, including a +3 mark against NCAA Division I and Big Ten member Nebraska. For the season the Marauders have held the turnover edge in 12 games with one draw while opponents have held the edge five times. Â

Jaylan White has started to find his scoring touch. With five points against CSP he has scored four or more in five straight games, including a career-high 13 against Northern State. During that stretch he hit 10-of-18 shots and turned the ball over three times - all in one game.
HELPING HAND
Senior guard
Pat Thomas is 18th in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio at 3.09 and is 5th in the NSIC in assists per game at 3.8. He missed the Marauders NCAA-era school single game assist record by one as his passes directly led to 10 baskets for Mary against Yellowstone Christian. Thomas also added 10 points against the Centurions for the first Marauders double double of the season.

After struggling at home the last few seasons, Mary is once again finding success at the McDowell Activity Center (MAC). The playing floor was christened Bortke Court in honor of long-time Mary men's basketball coach and athletic director Al Bortke in July 2009. Here is the Marauders NCAA Division II home record:
